Basically, a student stole a teacher's phone. He went through her pictures, found a "sexy" (I'm not sure if it was nude or not) selfie she had sent to her husband and posted the picture on social media. The school forced her to resign. The student is not being punished at all. The school said it was her fault for not properly supervising the students.

I get that some teachers need to have their phones accessible, especially when with students and not in the room (recess, specials, etc). I walk my students to art down the street once a week and I always have my phone out for the trip. Honestly, I have a password on my phone so I'm not really sure why she wouldn't.
But regardless, teachers are people. You shouldn't get fired because a student stole something from your personal life and spread it around the school.
This poor woman! I can't believe the kid didn't get in trouble. It makes me terribly glad that I have a strong Union because this would never be ok with them.

Exactly. It's not like she took the photos at school or sent them to the students. It's something she (presumably) did in her off time. Teachers should be allowed to have private lives and they shouldn't be disciplined at work for doing something that in no way impacts their ability to do their job.

Yeah I remember being told that teachers are held to a higher moral standard and warned about things like drinking in the town where I worked in case parents were also there, but that is not something she ever intended to be public, and it was her husband ffs.
