A friend of mine (of over 15 years, but slowly losing touch with)'s younger sister, who I've subsequently become friends with, is VERY politically involved. I need to scroll past her fbook statuses bc they are 99% political. She also has "friends" on fb (and twitter) that she's never met, but these people follow her bc of her involvement. I don't know the exact details on how deep she's in it bc she lives in another state, but I know she recently traveled to a convention to represent...something. I think young women voters.
I always want to tell her how proud of her I am bc she's like a younger sister to me (I used to be dubbed their long-lost-sister when we were younger). I love how much passion she has and such a strong drive in what she believes in. It's truly moving.
Today, she changed her fb picture- at the convention, she got a hug from her political idol- the one person she's always praising, and I'm just so stinkin' proud of her.
HOWEVER, she's with the *other* party and we very much have opposite POV on government. So many times, I've written a congrats, but backspaced it bc I couldn't bear to congratulate someone who is SO opposite of what I believe in. I really shouldn't encourage the success of this party
How can I word a congratulations to her, while letting her know I have opposing views, but also letting her know I have ZERO interest in fighting about our opposing views. I just want to remind her that her party isn't for everyone . Or should I just ignore her it, and don't congratulate her?
I wouldn't say anything, not based on her political afiliation, but based on the fact that she's a not very good friend's (any more) little sister. This degree of seperation is too much for me.
However, if you really feel strongly you could just like the profile pic change.

I'm sure she knows her party isn't for everyone, so I don't think I would say anything to that affect. If you really felt the need you could say something along the lines of "Congratulations! No matter which way we lean politically, I think all would agree that your activism and committment is very admirable."
