Both of my children woke up yesterday running fevers and complaining of really bad headaches. I was stupid and asked Google and it came back with all kinds of scary things. I had no idea fever and headache at the same time are such a big deal but my kids will be ok, right? I guess off to the doctor with us tomorrow?
We have had headache with fever once and DS1 had strep. But it was one of those where he takes some tylenol and it helps. These headaches had DS2 crying on the couch. Their grandparents just had something similar that required antibiotics, so I guess we will see tomorrow.
Also, on Friday a girl in DS2's class went to the nurse TWICE because she was throwing up, and semt back to class because not a single person on her contact list could be reached to pick her up. THEN a kid on their soccer team apparently came to practice with pneumonia. I am thisclose to buying bubbles for my kids.

Umm why didn't the nurse keep her in the office where the poor girl could barf without an audience and keep her germs to herself?

This makes me think of the time our (old) school nurse sent a kid back after throwing up because sometimes "Kids throw up from talking too much"
There us something going around in my area that seems to be high fevers and headaches for a few days. A lot of kids here have had it. Hopefully it's nothing. Dr Google is the worst anxiety inducer.

whut.
Whut? Never heard that one before.
My best guess is that because the nurse's office is so small, she can only haveone sick in there at a time. So if someone comes in worse than you, they have to put you somewhere. I do know this is at least the second time that poor girl had to go back to class because nobody could be reached. I mean, what if it was an emergency?

Not to knock school nurses but wtf are these people thinking? My bff has the opposite problem. Her 8 yo son will have a "fever" of 99 and they say she has to pick him up. She always asks, did he just finish gym? Is he all sweaty? The kid plays soccer all recess or whatever and, yeah, 10 minutes after that he will be a bit warm.
Ours is usually pretty good, but I imagine that has something to do with people answering their damn phones. When DS1 got his hand slammed in a door, she called and asked me to bring him some tylenol. When his ears were hurting on a Friday, she called me and advised that I should pick him up and take him to the doctor. When he was complaining that his ear hurt after he started antibiotics, she sent a note home. I guess the difference is that I answer the phone when their school pops up on my caller ID.

We have a new nurse now and she's AMAZING. I lover her.
Aw sorry cna hope they feel better soon. I got the dreaded pink eye call from daycare and ds not only has it on both eyes but he has a fever and bronchitis. Mom of the year here thought he just had a little cough and seemed cranky.
