Okay so I'd post this on MMM but I don't really feel like dealing with it right now. But we're at a park and there's a 3-ish year old running around with a fake fun, pretending to shoot people in the heads! There's an orange tip but that's the only way I know it's fake because the rest looks real.
This is absolutely appalling, right? I opted to leave the area instead of saying anything but I'm debating still if I should. No one at any age should be playing like that, but especially familiarizing other kids to that kind of behavior. Wtf, other parent! My innocent baby doesn't need to copy that, and how does that three year old know? Sorry for my rant, it's just making me mad.
We just got home from the travel agent. My mom met us there. It's going to be her first cruise and she was so excited I thought she was going to explode in the seat. We had to yell at her to relax lol. Lucky whatever we choose she will be happy with. Now we need to pick 1 out of 3. Our travel agent threw in a curve ball and screwed all our original choices up in a good way.
amaranth - I'm pretty much against toy guns, so I would side with you. Orange tipped could mean cap gun which is capable of injuring people when loaded.
amaranth I'm not 100% against toy guns but when the kid is in a public places doing things like that I do, lol.
I didn't care (as in, I didn't give it much thought) until I had a toddler who copies everything. Now I'm super against realistic toy guns because I know that if he thinks that guns are for playing, the line is already blurred between them being good and bad. I'd rather them just always be a no-no until he's old enough for a real discussion...at like age 12. I'm okay with nurf or squirt guns though.
Eta: I feel I should add we will obviously talk about guns before age 12. I just meant I think they are always off limits before then since 12 is the earliest age for Hunter's Safety courses in our state.
amaranth- I would have left too that is a really young age to be playing like that...especially with others who might not necessarily be ok with it.
I finally got my thin mint girl scout cookies this weekend! I have nearly eaten the entire box by myself!
We watched Everest this weekend. I consider myself a pretty avid hiker and have always been driven by crazy things like Ironman and at certain points thought running 50 and 100 miles or biking across the U.S. would be fun. Yeah, watching Everest had the complete opposite effect. Why would anyone want to hike to such crazy extremes, spend 5 weeks in horrendous weather, and pay $65k (in 1996, so who knows how much now 20 years later) all while risking your life? No thank you. It was based on a true story and one of the guides died because he was helping a guy who had not reached the top the year before a d desperately wanted to reach the top that year. Guide left behind a pregnant wife. Definitely not a feel good movie.
luv2rn4fun I heard from travelbug that it was a good movie, but hard to watch. I read about Everest a lot in middle school for some reason and was really obsessed. So I'll watch it, but not until my hormones have settled. Lol.
katespade you best be posting pictures tonight of pretty hair!

It really was a good movie, really well done and shows some crazy parts of the hike. I just can't imagine putting my body through that or risking my life...maybe in my younger/not-so-smart days but not now. And many would say doing Ironman is crazy enough...I really.don't know how I even managed to complete one, let alone 3 and be in shape to possibly qualify for the world championships. Seems like a completely different lifetime ago!
Update: There is definitely a learning curve to it. The right side is way easier to do than the left side and I have no idea how to do the back, but I definitely don't hate it.
It looks amazing!! How would it work with long hair? It looks so good for your length.
I think it would actually be easier with longer hair. I spent more time taming the curls than I did actually using the iron, because my hair seems to be at a weird length for them. Veeeeeery voluminous.
katespade Ummm I want that! I just looked it up and it's waaaaay out of my price range, haha. Would it work with already wavy hair? The waviness makes it difficult to curl sometimes which is part of the reason I never do (I'm also bad at it, I fail at being a girl, lol).
I'm getting really sick of these headaches. My neck has been hurting too. I thought it was my pillow but I got a new one and so far still hurting. Sigh. I'm starting to worry something is wrong but then I think I'm just being anxious and paranoid!
estrellita - It was way easier than any curling iron I've ever used. I always end up with a lot of frizz when I use a curling iron because of my natural curl/waves, and I don't have any of that with this iron. I'm still not convinced that I will keep it because of the price and the fact that I couldn't figure out how to curl the back, but I'm definitely willing to give it a few more tries before I decide whether I'll send it back or not.
I've been having the hardest time sleeping lately. Usually I fall asleep super easy/fast and wake up pretty rested. Lately I lay in bed for what feels like forever, toss and turn all night, and wake up still tired. It's been like this the past couple weeks. I've reduced caffeine and made sure to limit it to early morning only but still not sleeping as well as usual.
