Dd2 has been snotty for a couple weeks now. Didn't seem to be anything beyond a cold. Today she keeps grabbing her ear, but she's not complaining about it. Would you make a pedi appointment?
I would. Ds has had a couple ear infections and sometimes didn't really have any major symptoms other than fussy and grabbing his ear. I forget how old your dd is though, could she be getting a tooth?
It's so hard to guess. If there's no pain or problems sleeping it might just be nothing - ears can get clogged during colds w/o being infected or of course, teeth.
For all the times my kids have had ear pulling they've each only had 1 ear infection total.

If there's no fever and she's not complaining of pain, I would wait. DS has had several ear infections and has never done the ear pulling thing for them. His sure fire signs are a fever and crap sleep. When he was rear facing, he would scream bloody murder in the car. If she's not bothered by it it could just be stuffiness from her cold, or if it's a mild ear infection it could resolve on its own.

My daughter never complains her ears hurt but she always runs a fever with an ear infection. Without a fever, I'd just wait and watch. With a fever, I'd call.
Thanks y'all. It's so weird how she keeps grabbing at her ear today, but her nose seems to be drying up so they're probably not related anyway. Wait and see wait and see.

Colds can cause middle ear fluid. That's probably why. Unless it turns into an obvious infection with fever and pain no need to treat; it will resolve on its own.
