Those of you who are FB/IG friends with me may have noticed that AJ has had a small wound on his forehead for a while. Since late September to be more exact. He.won't.stop.picking.it. It's something he does when he's sleepy and in bed-he sucks his right thumb and scratches at it with his left hand. He won't keep a bandaid on it, I've tried all kinds (character ones he chose himseld, plain, super sticky, small, large, you name it), and when I tried liquid bandage he picked around that and irritated the shit out of the skin around the wound. We've talked about why he shouldn't pick it, but he's 2.5 so that isn't working.
Right now the only things I can do are keep his nails really short and put Vaseline or Neosporin on it before naps and bedtime, which are the only times he's able to get at it without someone nearby to tell him to stop. It's gotten pretty small but anytime it's thisclose to healing completely the little shit opens it up again.
I'm to the point that I'm seriously considering getting pajamas that are a size or two too big so I can sew the sleeves closed, to prevent him from scratching it. I feel like it sounds crazy, but damnit that thing would be healed in a fucking week if he would just leave it alone. And it's been forever.
So, is that crazy? Is there another option to keep him off the wound or speed healing that I'm forgetting? Because fuck, I'm tired of fighting a damn booboo.
Gosh that sounds frustrating. I think even doing that to his pjs would still allow him to scratch by just using the material and his fingers under it. I'm trying to think of an alternative but cant... does he use a lovely?
I'd try ScratchSleeves. These things were a godsend when DS developed eczema at 6 months and started scratching his forehead till it bled. He still sleeps in them at night and for naps. The cuffs are enclosed with a super soft 100% silk, so even if he scratches he won't be able to hurt himself. He has a million stuffed animals in bed that he snuggles with intermittently but no lovey I had a similar concern with the PJs but that's how desperate I'm getting.

Omg. Those might be just what I need...and would be far easier than sewing pajama sleeves shut!
They're also thin enough that he can still use his hands to grab things like his pacifier or, lately, my nose. I think that closing pajama sleeves would hinder that more and therefore potentially cause him more frustration.

Yeah that crossed my mind too. I am absolutely ordering a set of these, thank you SO much!
