The white is glossy, if that helps. I have the three drawer and the six drawer in white and love them both. (I plan to get the tall one eventually too. Ikea just got to my state, so it's not overdone here yet lol.)
And related to the dust question above- we have white stain in DD's room and brown/black in DS's. I rarely need to clean DD's furniture but constantly need to scrub down DS's. I thought it was because boy's are dirtier but now I'm wondering if the finish is the reason.

We have one in each DD's bedrooms. One is white(gloss) and one is blue. I *think* the blue may be the same finish style as the white stain?
I love the look of the blue but prefer the durability of the white. On the blue I just discovered a small crack on the top and I'm scared it's going to chip away. I'm wondering if I left something damp on it.
Overall I really like them both though. Our house is slowly getting decked out in Hemnes.

We have 3 of the white (two long, one tall). I like the glossy look in my kids' rooms. It's easy to dust too. If it were for my room I'd opt for the white stain.

We have the white glossy in T's room and the blue in N's room. I love them. The white glossy is much easier to clean than the blue, but if it's not in a kid's room then it probably doesn't make much of a difference.

I think you're right about the finish style of the blue stain being the same as the white.
We have the blue dresser in DS's room and it is already showing some wear on the edge of the top. We lean against it a lot though because his changing table is on the dresser. I think it would hold up better if it was getting used and touched less.

We have the glossy in DS's room but I think we may go with the white stain in the nursery. I like the glossy but it's a little off white and we have white beadboard around the room and I'd like the dresser to look more white. Also, there is already a chip in the top of the glossy where a drop of water sat.
Here's a blog post that compares the two with some pictures if you think that might be helpful
I chose the white stain, because if you look at the specs on Ikea's website, the white stain dresser is composed of solid pine for the tops and sides, whereas the white glossy is particle board.
Thanks for sharing! We bought DD the daybed and I couldn't figure out which one would match best. The large dresser was sold out when we went. I should have just looked for the smaller one because I had forgotten the bed has drawers for storage too. Lol
the drawers are huge too. She did have a 5 drawer taller dresser. I was worried she wouldn't have enough drawer space in this one. But that's not the case at all. Poor kid looks like she has no clothes now. lol
So I have the Hemnes dresser in black-brown for my boys. It has held up rather well and I probably got it almost 4 years ago? Much sturdier than I expected it would be.
I also use the Hemnes cabinets with the glass doors as my pantry, and I have those in white stain. I love the white stain so much.
To be honest though, I don't know what the white would look like, but I think I would go with white stain if I were you.

Random lurker reply. I have several Hemnes dressers. Cant advise on color, but get the glass that is cut for the dresser. It saves on the wear and tear of the tops. I think they were under $30 at ikea.
