Almost exactly 2 weeks after one of my cats got outside, I was awoken at 4:30 this morning to a scratching my my sliding glass door in my room. I JUMPED out of bed and called to her. She had run back into the shadows, but responded to my calls with a few MAUUUs and eventually came back inside. She's a little skinny (and spent about 10 minutes chowing down as soon as she came inside, while I stared at her and cried), but otherwise looks perfect. She's not even damp (it's been raining on and off the entire time she's been gone).
Her sister is not nearly as thrilled as I am that she's home. She keeps growling and hissing at her. I'm sure that will subside.
I'm fucking ecstatic. I don't know what kind of adventure she's been on, but hopefully now she'll stop trying so hard to get outside.

I was just telling the story of my missing cat who came home in the middle of a torrential downpour, bone dry and better groomed than he'd ever been. We never did find out where he spent his two week hiatus. I'm glad your kitty is home again!
berbles, try rubbing her with a towel or sweatshirt or something the other cat lays on. Once she smells "familiar" again the other cat should relax and stop hissing.

That is wonderful. I am so happy for you.
My dog was missing for four nights once and it was awful. I have no idea where she was--just like you, she came home in the night--I woke up to the sound of a dog drinking from the water dish I had left out for her on the front stoop. I swear I FLEW through the house to the front door and yanked it open and it was her. The best feeling ever!
Took her to the vet yesterday, just to be safe. All tests came back negative! Wooo!
And LOL, because the last time I took her to this vet was when she had surgery at 6 months old, after eating nearly 3 feet of thread off my sewing machine. Her weight was listed on her chart at 2.8 lbs. I know she lost some weight on her adventure, so I was concerned about needing to put weight back on her. She weighed in at 10 lbs exactly. The vet said I did not need to worry about her putting weight back on. LOL
She didn't give a single fuck about being at the vet. (heart)

Girl, that cat doesn't look like she gives a single fuck about ANYTHING.
She wouldn't stop purring. The vet said, "well she doesn't have anything major going on with her heart and lungs, but I can't hear anything subtle because the machine won't stop running." She kept trying to push on her nose to make her stop but she just kept purring away.
