I do a few things. I upload everything to shutterfly. I also have a usb thing I can transfer them all to (i have an iPhone but I bought this thing at Best Buy that let me do this), then transfer them to an external hard drive. I'm terrified of losing my pics, so I back up in two places.

Back up to my computer and 2 external hard drives. I learned that lesson when I was doing photography and 1 of my externals got damaged (fell to the floor). I also sometimes back them up on a dvd

I am lazy and I have been paying for extra iCloud storage. I want to feel bad about it but really it is so freaking easy. I pay the money and all of my pictures are just there like magic.
I backup to Amazon cloud drive. Photo storage is free if you have Prime. It saves full res versions of photos vs Google drive that downgrades them a bit
I back up my photos through Dropbox. Then I save them all on google photos, in a folder in my laptop, and in my external hard drive.
Then I feel safe to delete some photos from my phone. I have too much memory to back up through iTunes for some reason so when I got a new phone- I wasn't able to transfer all of the photos
DH has his uploaded to photobucket...I didn't back mine up (kept putting it off) and accidentally deleted well over 1k the other day. I dont even know how it happened. I had a video selected to delete and then poof, 7 pictures left..I'm getting a little emotional just thinking about..anyway, just don't put it off.

I never thought to upload to Shutterfly (I'm an old!). You just changed my life.
I have the Shutterfly app. Every few days I go through and upload any new pics (sorted into Month & Year albums) so I never have to worry about losing pics if I lose my phone. And then every few on the I go through and delete what I don't want off my phone. And then the app makes it really easy to add the pic back to my camera roll if I need it for anything.
