Tomorrow officially starts our new challenge: the SO financial fitness challenge.
If I remember correctly we are doing Financial Fridays with goals and wins and losses for the prior week. We'll also do a how was your weekend check in on Mondays.
I have to do this challenge! I am heading into dangerous waves with my spending lately. DS's 2nd birthday is coming up in Sept and I need to think of a low cost party. I also need to restore my emergency fund since I been dipping into it. Also on a lookout for a roomate to help with finances. I am scared because it is adding another dynamic in the house with my son and I.

I'm in... I spend a lot on I don't know what so my first step is figuring out what I spend money on (not bills just discretionary stuff) I started by writing down what I spend every day (again not bills) and it's been INSANE! I spent over $500 this week. It's kind of like the food diary. Once you see it all written down, it's a lot easier to see where the problems are.

Last month was so expensive because my dog had like $1200 in vet bills ... I was proactive and cancelled my hair appointment and moved it to next month so I wouldn't have to take money from savings.
I also only ate out 1 time this week and I bought 1 beer for like $4 instead of my usual 1 or 2 wines at $10 each. This reduced my bill by a lot!
This is great! It's also a good example of an update with wins, losses, and goals. Well done and good luck.

I am so down! I'm really trying to save every single Penney for our move next month. I've got to buy ds some bed room furniture and alot of stuff for the condo and I don't want to deplete my savings doing it!

Depending on where you live, check.out Craigslist or used furniture stores. I got my kitchen table at one. It's gorgeous solid maple and was only $150.
How do we want to start it off? Post budgets and debt, Personal financial goals, Advice, tips, etc? I know for me, it will be a lot of trying not to buy anything because my budget got so tight.
I think I will also start posting a finance related post on Fridays on my blog to go along with this.... I just posted one today actually, but I may make it a regular thing to go along with this challenge.
I spent $2k at the vet over the past 2 weeks, so my goal for next month is to not do that again. I also need to pay my credit card off again. After that, the goal is to save for house projects and a wedding.
My biggest money waster is food. We spend an outrageous amount for 2 people. I need to get a handle on it, but it isn't easy to eat healthy on a budget. Ideas are welcome.
