My landlord owns three houses in a row that are on a fairly busy street. Mine is the last one and my driveway goes out onto a side street that as a stop light. I've noticed some tire marks in my lawn and then just now, I see my neighbor's car going across my lawn and down my driveway! I assume they are wanting to turn left and want the light, instead of having to wait to get out of their own driveway. The lawn isn't too bad right now, but it's definitely marking it up and I am responsible for lawn maintenance. In addition, I know the leeching fields for the septic are somewhere in that area.
I just don't want to be THAT person, you know? So, would you call?
I'd notify the landlord, and go put up a super klassy blockade of concrete blocks at the edge of the lawn. No way in hell am I going to pay damages because some other tenant on some other property used the lawn as an extended driveway.
Seriously? What an ass. I mean, on top of the fact it's just rude to do that they must know you are responsible for lawn maintenance since they are a tenant of the same landlord.
If you are comfortable, I'd talk to the neighbor first and if that didn't improve the situation, talk to the landlord.
How much of an asshole do you have to be to freaking drive across someone else's lawn?!
OUr neighbors across the street- THEIR next door neighbor did this. They drove mainly on their own lawn, but then would cross the strip of property that is our friends and then drive out their driveway.
When our friend went and talked to the woman, she said it was her DD and that her DD probably didn't realize she was doing it.... And something about how the DD doesn't like to back up...
Let's suffice it to say that we've literally seen the DD sitting in her car doing drugs. So, yeah, maybe she actually doesn't "realize" she's doing it.
Our neighbors used to drive through our yard to park their cars in their backyard (which is against county regulations). Not only did they leave ruts in our yard, they refused to stop when we nicely asked them to (they insisted they were driving on their property). When we had our property surveyed and officially staked, they started trying to dump trash in our backyard. We finally had to put a fence up to stop the madness from getting any worse.
All that to say I would definitely talk to your landlord. She or he has a vested interest in the upkeep of the property and needs to know what's going on. From personal experience, I would not try to talk to the neighbors because I would not expect them to be reasonable.
Seriously, who fucking thinks it's okay to drive across another person's yard?!

This. One of the major benefits to renting is that this really doesn't fall on your shoulders to fix. Notify the landlord (by email or text, so you have a record of escalating the issue in a timely manner) and let them handle it.
Well sure it's not her responsibility to fix it. She does have to be neighbors with this person though so I wouldn't skip the step of just trying to talk to them first if I were comfortable doing so.
Perhaps I'm just an introverted asshole, because if it were me, I'd delight in the fact that I could make my landlord handle the conversation instead of risking a neighbor reacting poorly. I'd be all "Renting pays off! Woot!"
I mean, we already know the neighbor is asshole enough to monster truck across the lawn, so I wouldn't bet on him being rational when confronted.

I remembered that it is spring break and neighbors have a college aged kid. I bet anything it was him that it. Especially since this didn't happen at all last week. So that answers the question of what kind of asshole does this. Teenaged boys lol.

Knowing this, I suppose I would talk to the neighbors. ... But I'm like a scared animal when it comes to neighbors. I just don't like them (in general).
