I am in need of a new laptop that will mostly be used for work. Doesn't need to be fancy, my 10 year old laptop doesn't cut it and we have a Mac at home and unfortunatly a couple of the programs I use for work are incompatible with Mac. I don't work from home very often, but I am today and I am having to call my coworkers in another state to do some of my work for me.

DS just got a Lenovo Edge with the Intel i5 processor. Beware the cheaper Lenovos with the AMD processors. DS had some serious issues with it being able to run Windows 10 even and battery life sucked. We swapped it out for him.
I have a Dell XPS 13 - thin and lightweight. Fast. I'm very happy with it.
I was just coming in to say definitely NOT a Dell XPS. Although it is thin and lightweight, I've already had to have mine warrantied twice for faulty hardware in 2.5 years. This most recent time I was without it for 2 weeks. I have always bought Dells (through work) but probably won't again after this one.

Yeah, I've been doing research and ditto this. I'm also going to stay away from the AMD and Intel Celeron chips, since mine is going to be a desktop replacement. Mostly I use my desktop (before it died! damn you, Dell) for organizing/editing pictures and running Excel. So that's bumps me up another hundred to this $370 bestseller on Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011KFQASE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
