In honor of our weekly organizing threads, should I declutter by getting rid of these things? I'm good with cleaning out clothes each season but struggle with these things. Someone make the call for me...
-The drawer full of various water bottles I have gotten at conferences and events and never uses but keep in case I (or someone else) ever needs. Some ARE pretty nice but I'm actually picky about my water bottle and carry a Swell bottle every day and would probably continue to replace that one if needed.
-Old strapless bras in various sizes and colors that I keep thinking I'll need for a dress last minute, because it has happened before. They are uncomfortable and don't fit.
-Costume/cheapo jewelry that hasn't been worn in two or more years. What if it comes back in style?!
Except maybe some jewelry. If any of the pieces would be good for a specific Halloween costume then keep it.
At the very least ditch the bottles. As someone also picky about them I know they'll never get used. If yours breaks you'll just go buy a new one you love.
I say get rid of all you aren't currently using. The likelihood of you needing the items may be more slim than you think. I have been this way too...and I feel so much better with less clutter.
The only thing I would keep would be the scarves. But I can be a bit of a scarf hoarder. My recommendation: Donate the rest, there are lots of local charities or thrift stores that would appreciate it! Donate the scarves too if you're not going to wear them.
I say donate everything! If you don't use it and it's not bringing you any level of happiness, just get rid of it! If that is too drastic, maybe keep like one extra water bottle, one extra strapless bra, one or 2 scarves and pieces of jewelry only if you still like them or can foresee a possible costume usage, as amaranth suggested. Good luck!
