He's not exactly one of the truly conservative Hollywood actors...

THU AUG 30, 2012 AT 09:56 PM PDT Eastwood Punks Romney
It was inspired and brilliant! It's a moment you'll tell your grandchildren about! Clint Eastwood went behind enemy lines and sabotaged Romney's big night and twitter is ablaze with LOL comments.
Of all the fuck-ups the Romney campaign has produced, this took cake. Somehow they were duped into thinking Hollywood Liberal Clint Eastwood would endorse Romney with a convention speech. Instead, Eastwood, reprising his role from "Kelly's Heroes" infiltrated the RNC convention and blew it up.
For those who missed it, Eastwood went on stage, and in a novel piece of performance art rivaling Andy Kaufman at his best, began talking to an empty chair, pretending President Obama was sitting in it.
The convention is now in ruins. Mitt's big night is laying at the bottom of the Eastwood rubble, as it's the only thing people are talking about.
Well done, Mr. President. Well done. Once again, you out foxed all your opponents. Don Barzini is dead, so is Phillip Tattaglia -- Moe Greene -- Hyman Roth -- the RNC Convention; today you settled all family business. You truly are a ninja master.
I didn't see it and the text I'm sure wouldn't give the full picture. Some of my far right Facebook friends loved it though. Dunno what's up with that.

Pamela you should look up the text. Most of the transcripts I've seen have done a pretty good job of capturing the whole "stop and go," awkward phrasing, trailing off between sentences/midthought, and switching rapidly between different topics pretty well.
I can get rallying behind your party's convention and all, but I know more than a few conservatives who thought it was truly hilarious and obviously 100% off the cuff. I'm not sure that he was punking anyone, exactly, as appealing as that might be, but the speech itself was just beyond weird and awkward.
I don't think this will hurt Romney. It doesn't help him but it doesn't hurt him.
I don't think it will necessarily hurt him, but I think the build up the RNC gave to this speech on the same night as Romney's acceptance speech was a mistake. It makes them look foolish to have it turn into a national laughingstock and detracts from the purpose of the evening and Romney's spotlight.
I just don't get the go fuck yourself thing. i get that it is in reference to Biden or something, but so many people laughed at it right off that bat. Too many people that I wouldn't have expected to know the reference. hell i don't even know it.
please to be explainin
This confused me, too. Cheney was the one who publicly told someone to "go eff yourself". Biden's used the eff bomb on a hot mike, but it sounded to me like CE was confused here, and in many (read: all) other points in his performance. Weird.
I guessed it would be Eastwood once I started seeing promos for his new movie on the news channels during the day yesterday. Coincidence? I think Eastwood has a rockin' agent.
It is a good thing he didn't go on about his social views - considering he has been outspoken on gay rights before, and believe gay marriage should be legal. I believe he considers himself a libertarian, not an R. Could be wrong though.
Well, everyone is talking about Clint instead of the fact that Paul Ryan is a lying liar who lies and even Fox News agrees, so I would say this is a plus for the Romney campaign.
true. the democrats can't get their act together IMO. whereas the republicans are great at diverting, creating a message, and running it to the ground. they definitely seem to be better at this.
