I have used Bank of America forever. Our combined accounts are elsewhere but I kept BoA for my personal/fun money when we got married. I just got an email stating they will charge $25 monthly starting in May unless I have a ton of money in either my checking or savings accounts.
The only reason to keep the account is because it's linked to my credit card which I use for most personal purchases. Does anyone have a recommendation for a bank that does not charge or require a minimum?
I use a local credit union, too. I would never go back to a big bank again (I used one during the short amount of time that I lived outside of the area).

We use a credit union for checking because we get rewards for using our debit card. We have our savings at Capital One 360. If we weren't using our credit union checking I'd use our checking account there more. No fees or minimums.
We're similar in that we just use our checking account for cash and out other accounts are held elsewhere. We had BoA until our location got bought out by a state bank. We switched to a local bank. It does have a minimum balance, bit it's fairly low so it's not a big deal.

Thank you ladies! I do have a rainy day savings through a credit union so I might look into options there. I really just need something DH can transfer money into and that allows me to pay my credit card...and also have privacy so DH can't see all my purchases (surprises for him).

luv2rn4fun - Honestly, I can't recall, I'm sorry. It's been a while since we opened. H and I both have direct deposit, so it wouldn't surprise me but I'm not positive. We have been pretty happy overall though. No real issues.
