Sorry for all of the posts...
Anyone do the Couch to 5k program? I'm trying to get my ducks in a row with a set game plan and this seems free and doable.
How hard is it to start running?
A little health background, I am about 30-40 lbs overweight, I had a laminotomy/discectomy between L3 and L4 a few years ago which gets aggrivated due to exercise but it is helped by losing weight. I also have bad knees from softball in high school. I am also a smoker. I know it doesn't make it easier.
I have decent running shoes. They are sturdy adidas ones, made for trails but I use them for long walks or the elliptical at the gym when I would go. I figure they would do until I can get better financial grounding.
I really want to lose weight and feel better. I'm starting to feel sloppy.
I started it last year and liked how it worked. It was a slow and steady pace and I repeated a few weeks when I didn't feel really ready to move on to the next level. I didn't complete it, because I'm a loser and lost interest. But I am now able to run 2 miles, which is not something I could ever do!!
I just started doing it again on Monday after taking a few months off. Totally doable and you can walk and run at your own pace - repeat a day if necessary.
I'll also add, that my head was always my problem, not my body! When the week would change and I had to do xx amount of running, I talked myself into a panic of "I can't do this, there's no way I can do this". This is probably why I repeated weeks.
