Update: The CEO replied to my message on linked in... He said we'll be in touch very soon! Then I got an auto generated email saying "We'd like to hear more about your skills, please complete this form or questionnaire". (Didn't have chance to look at it yet! YAY!!!!!
Going to say it that way instead of saying I "leaned in" lol so...I applied to an amazing position yesterday that was posted on Linked In. I'm pretty much perfect for it line by line. It even said they were looking for the "insert funny but favorable position nickname here" which is actually what my co-worker has nicknamed me. And the culture sounded really fun (I work for an old school corporation). I wrote a kick ass cover letter and nailed the questionnaire included.
but... I know first hand on the hiring side how resumes get "lost" through online application processes.
So I decided to request a connection with the job poster/hiring manager who also happened to be the company CEO and HE ACCEPTED
and I sent him a quick note with just a couple of lines and asked if he wanted to chat!
Thanks, normally not a huge deal but I'm not connected to a whole lotta CEOs! Haha maybe 2 out of 700 contacts on linked in so I'm proud of myself. It was a what do I have to lose moment

There is nothing to lose and it shows resourcefulness and leadership in my opinion. Go you!
Just reading this make my own chest tighten up...go you!!!
Lol I know, right? At this point I don't even care if I hear back from him. I'm just glad I went for it, didn't over analyze what to say or put it off and put it off
you miss 100% of the swings you don't take and all that
