Hi. I'm a stranger around these parts, these days.
I've been busy at my "new" job. I've been here for nearly 2 months and everything is going really well. I'm a little bored with the work, but it's just some stuff I need to get through. I've been doing a lot of contract work for my old company (not the last one, the one that laid me off in August). There is a good chance that they will offer me my position back in the summer. Not counting on it of course, but really it is the best fit for me. It's the work I enjoy, good pay, and they are super flexible with my schedule. I hate to hop around so much, but that is the only reason I would leave here.
Had a parent teacher conference last night. I am super concerned about Tman going into middle school next year. I'm pretty sure he's the youngest in his class with a late July birthday and he's not especially mature. I don't think he's immature for his age necessarily, but just BARELY 11 seems so young for middle school. His school is PreK-12, so he won't change schools, but he will go to a different wing and be going to different classes, etc., like a typical middle school. I just really don't know if he can keep himself organized enough to handle the different classes and teachers. His current teacher told me she's not concerned at all and that maturity wise, he's about in the middle of the class. She said that last year she had some boys "graduate" to middle school that were less mature than Tman and they are doing okay this year. I'm still really reluctant. I've heard a lot of people talking lately about how the K-8 and then High School type structure is better for the kids, and I think I'm agreeing with that.
Of course all this could be me just freaking out that he's so bloody old!
I have a friend coming in town on Friday from Ohio and I'm so excited. She's my college BFF. We are going to see Paul McCartney together on Sunday. It's going to be the best. I think we are going to try to go to the coast on Saturday. She has never seen the Pacific Ocean. I hope the weather is nice.
And for funzies, here is a short video of Tman playing piano at his school talent show.

It's good to "see" you again, georgeharrison! I also CANNOT believe that Tman is going to be entering middle school! That is exciting though I can't listen to the video at work, but I'll be sure to listen to it tonight at home.
Good morning! My busy week continues. Tonight I'll be going to a Legislative Caucus Training/Orientation thing, and I might be working a phone bank too (reminding delegates to show up). Afterward, I'll be checking out a new brewery and get another stamp in my WABL (WA beer club) passport. Work hard, play hard
The M's are stinking it up so far this season, but maybe they will surprise me in the game this afternoon.
georgeharrison, I am sure he will be fine. I have faith!!! I am sure all the teachers have experience in helping with the transition.
Not much here on my end. Redfin class tonight. I tweaked my knee at class last night. D wants me to not to class on Sunday... BUT ITS CLIMBING AND I WANT TO GO. So I told him I would see how I feel on Saturday, but honestly I am probably going to go...
Guys we H officially put up my car for sale last night I looked up the ad once he went to bed and I seriously almost cried. I freaking love it still and really don't want to sell it but we have no reason to hold onto it. Having a tahoe and a suburban is pretty pointless. But I luvs it. I get weird car attachments. I also cried when we sold our truck. I went through many things with that beast during H's deployment.
Yesterday was a super-bad day but H took really good care of me. We got Indian Curry and cuddled up on the couch with a fuzzcat and watched Secret of Kells and then started watching a documentary by Werner Herzog about cave paintings in the south of France that were only discovered in 1994. Some muscle in my rib cage was spasming horribly and I ended up having to take vicodin to sleep. Had PT today and it was luckily a session wehre I get to work with the PT the whole time instead of halfPT/half therapy assistant, so she was able to direct a lot of attention to the crazy rib thing which had prevented me from being able to do my exercises yesterday. Glad the sun came back after the rain washed the pollen counts down. Just keeping on best as I can.
I've been MIA For a while as well. Between the house renovations, a sick child, & work I have been swamped. The house is starting to come together and we have a move date set. We are starting to slowly move things over there now that the flooring and painting have been completed.
We just got back from a trip to the mid-west to visit H's family and go to opening day at Wrigley field. It was so cold, but a good time.
