I think I'm Outlandered out. I never finished the 8th book. I haven't pulled the trigger on getting Starz for this part of the season. None. I may be over it ... and I'm really sad about that.

Take a break and maybe it will come back to you. The books won't go anywhere, and the show can wait. Before long you'll be thinking randomly about Claire and Jamie! I've been reading/rereading the books intermittently for over a decade and bought the shows in DVD, so I can binge or savor.

I found Outlander right around the same time that I found HP. So that was around 2001/2002.

I kind of agree. I'm excited for the show, but I'm burned out by the books. I made it to halfway through WIMOHB and can't bring myself to finish it.

This makes me a little sad, but I can understand. I just feel so connected to those books and, more specifically, those characters. I have only seen the first half of Season 1, but I am not sure that I will continue to watch. I think they are doing a great job with the show. I just don't want it to change the story I have in my head. I hope that makes sense.
I've only read the first five (I think) books. I was only reading one a year to make the series last, and then last year I didn't read any. I will finish the series (or catch up to wherever it is now - she still plans to write more in the series, right?), but I'm not in any rush.
I got the season 1 DVDs of the show from the library a few months ago, and even DH was into it, though. So we do want to keep watching it. I think he told me that we can get Starz a la carte-style through our Roku somehow, but I don't know how any of that works.

I first read Outlander around 1995. I loved it then and I love it now. I have had to wait for all the new releases. I agree some of the newer ones are a bit long in the tooth and hard to get through. But my love for the characters is real. I just read fast through the slow stuff and read slow and savor the parts I really like. I love the show. I find it does not take away from the books at all for me.
