I'm so excited. I bought the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for DS1 today. He's five. I know it's a bit soon but he keeps asking so we'll try it out and if it's too scary, we'll stop. He already knows about the parents so that part shouldn't be a shock.
Also confession - I bought two since the Prime one is backordered. Figured I'd see which one gets here first and put the second away for DS2.
DS1 also helped paint my MIL's condo last night. He did a decent job. It was actually kind of touching as my grandfather did painting / wallpapering jobs to make ends meet. He taught my mom and she did the same. We're lucky enough that I don't have to use that skill but I love painting and think it's NBD to paint a room and now I'm passing it along to him.

- DD's teacher wrote on their class page yesterday that they can hear a bullfrog from their classroom. Yesterday, they went for a walk to try to find him (after naming him scooter) and didn't see him, but they could hear him.
I'm thinking about a group of 20 3-4 year olds marching around the school, calling for this bullfrog, and I'm dying of the cute.
- She threw a tantrum the other night because I went to the wrong gas station. She was crying and screaming while I was pumping gas. (Thank god no one else was there.) At one point, she yelled, "This isn't even a real gas station anyway!" I lost it. I could not stop laughing. That made her even more upset, but I couldn't help it. It was so ridiculous.

I put this in another post, but DS#1 accidentally called Trump, "Tronald Dump" when talking about a newspaper article he read in school and I about died. Giggling at "Mr. Dump" is very 4th grade humor.
DS#2's teacher sent me a text yesterday with a picture of him "reading ahead in their classroom novel because he was too cute to tell him no and already had all his work done." That kid is awesome right now - he also folded like 60 laundry items and put them away a day ago and was in good spirits the whole time (while I was not - I hate laundry folding).

DD is also currently obsessed with future events. We've discussed what we're doing on Sunday for 3 days. (DH has a softball tournament so we'll go to that, play at the playground and she has a race at 4:00.) She's planning where we're going to lunch on her last day of school, which is May 27. (My sister and I are picking her up, we're going to lunch, and then driving to the beach.) We get lots of "what are having for dinner tomorrow?" and stuff like that.
Should I be worried? I have issues with anxiety, and it definitely runs in my family. This constant worry about what is happening next is making me nervous.
meshaliuknits , I love this argument and the alternate route will break their hearts
It will probably induce more tears. I once picked up my own lunch bag and I got "NO! MOMMY. It's MY turn to give you your lunch."
Why are kids so irrational? My daughter gets so pissed when she can't sleep ON me, girl you are 40 pounds (hope it doesn't offend Amy that I mentioned weight) sleep on the bed!

She slays me.
This kind of reminds me of this meme I saw the other day. "Until I became a mother, I didn't know you could ruin someone's day with the wrong color sippy cup."

Right?!
Speaking of weight, I was carrying BoyLiu because he wouldn't walk after the branch incident. About halfway there I told him he was heavy. He looked at me and said "Yeah. REALLY heavy." then giggled.

Got to love him! DD wants me to wear the baby in the front and her on the back. She thinks I am a mule or something!

I'm a little annoyed at a daycare rule. Today was forecast to be cloudy. This morning I woke up to a forecast of sunny skies and 75. So, I brought in a gently used bottle of sunscreen to daycare and will replace it with a new one this on Monday when I can get to the store to buy a new one.
Apparently they're prohibited from using bottles that had been opened before entering the building, and won't/can't use it. Even though it was the bottle her old room sent home with us not one month ago when she changed rooms.
So chances are good my preshus went outside today without sunblock.
I feel like this should be a common sense sort of situation. I realize there may be a regulation requiring new bottles. But Target wasn't open in the way to daycare and I'd rather have some sunscreen rather than none until my butt can get to Target.

Q calls him "donald ducky" and has made up an entire song about him. All the neighbors can sing it because she's taught it to them
Oh I forgot the best thing, DS1 said something fairly advanced for his age last night. I forget what but a couple friends were impressed and jokingly asked him what he was going to be when he grew up. Someone mentioned president. DS1 immediately said "Veto. New law: No School!" So proud of my mini-politician. Veto! I die.

So it's been a couple of decades since my little guys were of daycare age, but I can't even figure out why this would be a rule. That's not even a TSA rule and they come up with the most ridiculous ones...

I took DS to vote early with me today after I picked him up from school. He wore his HRC button and proudly collected his "I voted" sticker when we were done.
M rocked her First Communion interview today. Now I just have to get N through her dance pictures tomorrow, M through her communion pictures on Saturday, one more soccer game, and then I can have all my commitments that are stressing me out done, and have this baby.
I know that sounds dramatic, but y'all, my mom and MIL are both incapable of the hair/makeup prep that goes into these pictures.

Hair and makeup is no joke. One of Scarlett's friend's moms was out of town for dance pics today so her mom brought the girl. I did her hair and makeup - I knew she might need my help because she had mentioned it last week. But it's so stressful!

Is she worried or just likes talking about it? I know shorti isn't to the point yet where she really gets how far away things are..like next week and tomorrow are the same thing to her. So I have to imagine it's a newish thing for your DD to really get. No?

I don't know if she's worried or just filling the silence, know what I mean? She's a talker.
