I'll answer anything and it would be a good way for the older members of the board to get to know this newbie. We could each volunteer every Friday for a new one.
What's the backstory about paranormal investigating and Betsy mentioned in the randoms thread?
My husband and I are paranormal investigators. We have a group called East Koast Ghost through which we investigate well known and unknown public locations reputed to be haunted. We've been doing this informally since 2007 but as part of a group since 2010/2011 ish.
Betsy was what we called the entity that "lived" with us in our last apartment. When we first moved in, we had a female roommate. Periodically, I would hear someone call, "Hello hello hello!" from the kitchen area. Her bedroom was off the kitchen so we just assumed it was her. One night, we heard the same female voice calling "Hello!" after we got home from a date night and I called to our roommate that we were home. She didn't answer so I went to her room to tell her that we'd brought her something to eat if she wanted it. My roommate was fast asleep. She never heard us come in that night.
So we did a little impromptu investigation on Christmas Eve and asked some general questions. The name that came through was "Betsy" so that stuck. We'd hear her or feel her routinely but she was never scary.
I would like to hear more Betsy stories. Also, what is the book you are writing about?
Right now, it's about 74,000 words and a mess. Lol ... I created a hybrid character that's half vampire and half werewolf. I utilize the term "pricolici" from the Romanian language when referring to her because everyone needs to be something. It originally referred to a werewolf that is killed and reborn as a vampire. I figured I would use a little artistic license.
So the book is somewhere between pnr and urban fantasy and follows the character while she finds love and tries to survive being hunted for being different. In theory.
In reality, it's a mess and goes all over the place.

It's like you're writing a book made for me. I'd read it in a hot second. For serious.

Ditto. In fact, both snshine and I love the crap out of a book series about a girl who is half werewolf and half vampire (technically her twin brother is too). So sign me up for reading it too. For real.

Really? Oh wait. I'm supposed to answer questions, not ask them.
Um ... my favorite Betsy story was when she wished mh a happy birthday the day after his real one. We'd had a cake for him with one of those little plastic signs that read "Happy Birthday." The next morning, I got up and got ready like normal. When I walked out toward the kitchen, I kicked something on the floor and there was another "Happy Birthday" plastic thing on the floor. It was different from the one that was on the cake the day before. I left it for him on the counter.
