I haven't watched it yet! Hopefully tonight. Talk away. I was kind of bored by Paris in the book, but I have been dying waiting to see all the costumes!! I wouldn't even click on any of the articles about it, because I don't want to see the nipple piercing dress until I can watch.

Charles Stuart is SO WHINY. I want to punch him in the face.
I feel like so much detail to the story is missing. DH kept asking me questions and the story just doesn't seem "connected" yet. I know they only have a limited amount of episodes for the giant book, but it's just not working for me.

.
I've mentioned before that I grew up in Scotland, so I have vague memories of the history lessons I was taught, and my impression then was Bonnie Prince Charlie was a hero, but the whole time reading the books, I just keep thinking about what a douche he is!

It's interesting to think about. I mean, the guy was raised nowhere near Scotland and in the European courts. I think most aristocracy at the time were whiny and douchey, though.
She was always so meh in the book. They have done a fantastic job of casting this season.
Jamie and Claire are so disconnected AND they haven't talked about her pregnancy at all yet. (40s bit in episode one aside).
I both loved yet questioned the use of the Dior "New Look" dress, and really loved the red dress.
BPC is so annoying, I can't stand it.
I think that's the part that is missing for me. At the end of the first book, they went through the trials at the Abbey and it pulled them closer as a team, so I feel like their disconnect in the show seems weird.
One of the things that annoys me about BCP on the show, is that I am not detecting any hint of an Italian accent (which he had, heavily, since he was raised in Italy).
I know it sounds silly because it's like I just wanted another sex scene, but they did a huge disservice to that couple by not showing the ending love scene in the hot spring in outlander. It's where they connected again and the excitement about the baby came.
They seem so apart right now, which makes sense with how the show is handling it. But it's not how it happened in the book.

Agreed it makes sense in terms of how they're handling it on the show. My guess is maybe it will stay that way until after you know what happens.

I LOVE that they show Jamie and Claire as "apart" right now. Jamie was raped and extremely traumatized. I think they are doing an amazing job showing Jamie as vulnerable man, that trauma takes time to get over and that sex in loving and passionate relationships is much more complex than it is usually depicted on TV.
Also, all of Claire's clothes in this episode were over the top. Like so much for my senses. I was dying. I loved them all.

I don't love that they are doing it. But I understand it.
In the books we saw him work so much more out before France and even after - differently though.
I just rewatched, boring episode for plot but the costumes!! I love Louise. I hope they change the plot, I'll gag if I see her with BPC. He's awful and she is amazing.

I LOVED the red dress! And it was fun to see the nipple dress in real life after trying to figure out how that could work in my head for years. CurlyQ284, I agree: I can't see this Louise with BPC either.
I liked it. I don't love the separation stuff but I think it makes sense given that they didn't show some of the stuff at the end of Outlander (and I do think a lot of that stuff got rushed through in the book) so I am willing to see where they go with it. Love Louise and hate BPC. The dresses were so cool to see.
I liked it. I'm trying hard not to be a book purist, because it's just not realistic that they'd cover everything exactly the way it was in the book. Nor should they, necessarily. I think that the story can be strengthened by cutting and changing things, as long as it stays true to the core, which it has so far.
I think the healing stuff has been very realistic, and agree that it was kind of rushed in the book. Plus, Jamie's nightmares about various traumatic events are a theme through all the books, really, so it ties in well that they're showing it now.
Murtagh is the best. It seems like, from previews, they are going to tell him what's up, so I'm interested to see where they go with that, and when.
I like that Murtagh has an opinion. In the book it just seemed like he was there to do their bidding. I like that he's involved in the issue this time and he's like "this guy is a total asshat". I like that he goes everywhere with Jamie instead of lurking around in dark corners like a bodyguard.
I loved the waxing scene but I hated when Jaime called it her "honey pot." That wasn't in the book was it? Didn't she only do her arm pits?
Loved the run-in with jaime's ex at the ball (or whatever it was). That was pretty funny.
I wish they'd release all the episodes at once. I'm really spoiled by Netflix!
Pretty sure she just did her armpits and legs in the book, not her honeypot! It was one of my favorite parts in the book. I loved Louise in the book as well- funny how lots of people here only like her on the show.

And I do remember him calling it her "honey pot" a few times in the book. Reading it isn't as bad as hearing a grown man say it.

Even with the Scottish accent it sounds bad!!
I liked how in the book he made a reference to her being as bare as an egg or something like that. I liked that much better.

Ok, I finally watched it! Holy crap they smashed so much into the episode. I am not a book purist, but I wonder if it's making much sense to non book readers.
I love Murtaugh. I was right there with him when he tried to pull his sword on Sandringham, and I actually flipped off the tv and yelled when he was making that face at Claire right at the end. Bastard!!
OMG BPC sucks SO bad. I just don't get all the God says my father should be King stuff. Seriously, why didn't anybody slit his throat?
Louise is awesome. I loved her in the book as well, and she's exactly how I pictured her.
