I'm currently reading The Cider House Rules (still) and The Thirteenth Tale, and both of them are making heavy references to Jane Eyre.
Do you ever get weird coincidences like that in your reading? I had another instance like this in February this year, where at least two of the books I was reading were both set in February.

Another coincidence is that it's Charlotte Bronte's 200th birthday.
Yes, three things come to mind: 1) When I reading the book "Shatter Me" by Tahereh Mafi, there was a popular song on the radio called "Shatter Me" by Lindsey Stirling and it freaked me out. 2) When I was reading the book "Uninvited" by Sophie Jordan, in the book there was a reference to places that were "quarantined zones" and one of them was Flint, Michigan. This was at the same time as all the water scandal stuff was going on in Flint, Michigan on the news and before then I had never heard of that city. 3) And for the life of me I can't remember what book or what song it was but one time I was reading in the car while my husband was driving and listening to music on the radio. Anyways, the words I was reading, at the exact same moment, I heard in the lyrics of the song that was playing. It was only a short phrase or something. That's going to bother me until I remember what song/book it was. Either way, freaky coincidence!

That's probably the bigger coincidence since I've been reading Cider House for at least a month.

Ever since I went to London in October.... I feel like every book I've read recently has some sort of London reference. It's weird. I don't know if I'm just noticing it because I was there or if I'm picking stuff that will likely have a London reference. IDK

I've never read Jane Eyre either.
I'm among the minority, but I say don't bother. I hated Jane Eyre. I wasn't fond of The Tenant of Wildfowl Hall. And I'm pretty sure reading Wuthering Heights should be classified as cruel and unusual punishment by international human rights organizations. I am not a fan of the Bronte sisters.
However, Jasper Fforde's The Eyre Affair was fantastic!
Not really a coincidence but I signed up for the HP virtual half marathon and then forgot about it. I stopped walking for a while. But I recently started again and started recording the distance in Runkeeper. Right now, I'm at Platform 9 3/4! And I have a little less than 4 miles to go.

May I ask what a virtual marathon is? I've never heard of this and I'm very interested in HP related non-running....

It's through a company called Make Yes! Happen. They set these up to encourage people to get out and either walk or run. You sign up, record your distance as you walk, and they show where you would be en route if you were there. So for example, I'm "walking" through the streets of London right now. Wherever I stop, they send me a picture of where I would be if I was there. There are different distances you can sign up for. It does cost a fee but you get a medal at the end of it. You can take as long as you want to complete it.

Do they only calculate walk/run? I spin and could definitely use more motivation.

I don't know, honestly. I can try to find out.
ETA: It depends on the individual race. Some allow only walking/running. Others allow cycling. Check through this link to see what's available: makeyeshappen.com/Athlete/Devices/22840

Almost always when I've read something I really really enjoy, I'll go pick around and see if I can find a good fanfiction. Some of those writers are so talented, and I enjoy reading a bit more 'creative license' material to drag out the good-book-hangover.
I'm listening to The Passage on audiobook and I usually listen to my audiobooks in general with the sleep timer as I'm falling asleep, sometimes also when I wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep.
I was listening to a particularly suspenseful part of The Passage the other night when I realized it was actually amping me up - I could feel my body getting tense, adrenaline rising! So I had to switch to something else to get back to sleep.
This is the first time this has happened in the few years I've had the audiobook habit. I guess Cronin is good!
It annoys me when people ask for book recommendations and then never read anything I suggest.
Here, IRL, or both?
IRL. Like, we are talking about books and they ask if I've read anything good lately (of course I have) and when I follow up with them about the books I recommended later, they tell me they haven't read them.

I have to admit I'm a bit like that. Because even though someone I know and trust will recommend the book, when I go to the bookstore/library and actually look at it, it doesn't feel like a book I want to read right then. That doesn't mean I don't keep the recommendation on file though.
Sometimes someone will recommend a book, and after looking at it I'll decide not to read it right then, but I'll find something that looks interesting close to it on the shelf, so while I'm not reading the recommended book, it did spur me to find something outside of my normal reading.
It's disappointing when no-one reads the books you recommend, and I wish more people would read the books I do so I can talk to someone about them, but you never really know what effect the recommendation may have had.
My sister always asks for recommendations and doesn't read them. Then again, she tried to convince me recently that she likes 50SoG for the amazing love story. So really, there's no hope with that one.
I actually did read the first 50SoG and I really didn't like it. I even tried to watch the movie, because sex. I got to the introduction of the Red Room of Pain. I laughed and shut it off.
snshne322 my sister mailed me the 50SoG books and insisted I read them. I made if through the first half of the first one and then them promptly went in a box for donation.
I'm kind of sad she never asks me for recommendations. I have lots I could give her that I think she would enjoy.
