H and I are going to do a Portland/Seattle trip in July. The Portland part is all set. From Seattle, we have two options for flights home on Saturday, 10:10 am or 11:30 pm.
We'll have Wednesday evening, all day Thursday and all day Friday in Seattle. Is that enough time to see the downtown area and see the main attractions in the city? Would we benefit from having the extra 12ish hours and taking the red-eye home?
We were there for 2 full days (3 nights) last summer and I would say take the extra 12 hours. I feel like we saw everything we needed to see, but we were somewhat rushed to do it and it would have been nice to have a little more time to hang out and enjoy the city. It's such a neat place.
I'll look into Victoria, although we won't have a car so I don't know how far we'll be able to venture.
You don't need a car! You can catch the Clipper downtown, and Victoria is a great city to explore by foot.
yes! this would be fun and July is a great time of year to do it (definitely still take Dramamine though...)
that said, Seattle is not a tiny town with 3 things to see, lol. I don't think you'll get bored, so if you have the time I'd leave late Saturday and see more In addition to the city itself, there's tons around the area, like the San Juan islands, mountains on both sides... feel free to ask here or on the Seattle board if you have more questions! (several Seattle ladies will especially have good restaurant recs, there's probably old threads if you search too)
