I put a bunch of stuff on my cards so my friend is paying me back $630 tomorrow before we leave. She was going to do either all cash or some in cash and some in a check that I can deposit on my phone into my account.
How much cash should I take?
I'll have my cards obviously so I can always get more. I'm worried about taking all $630 in cash lest I go a little too spend crazy or lose some accidentally. On the other hand, is it a PITA to start a tab at a bar you may only have one or two drinks at?

I don't spend cash ever unless travelling out of the country. I don't find it to be a PITA to start a tab at all. I'd say just a little cash ($100 or so) for tips, etc, but I'm a CC kinda gal.
I agree with the previous poster. I usually carry only a small amount of cash when traveling. I'll use an ATM or drug store/grocery store to withdraw cash with a small purchase if I find I need extra money.
I don't carry much cash while traveling, just enough for tipping. Can you guys use Venmo or something to send the money? So you're not dealing with checks or cash? This is how my friends and I pay each other.

I usually predetermine how much I will allow myself to spend gambling, take that much in cash and put food and entertainment on cards. Once the cash runs out, my gambling for the trip is over. Maybe decide how much you want to gamble with, ask for that in cash and the rest in a check.

I take cash to Vegas for tips and cab rides. The cabs in Vegas charge a crazy surcharge when you use a CC to pay. You won't have any trouble using a card for drinks, etc...
Another option to a cab or Uber is to the the monorail, depending on where you are going. I found it really easy to get around on. Agree though that cash is better if using cabs.

I'm not a cash person at all but I always take a few hundred to Vegas. I don't gamble, but it comes in handy for tips and splitting checks with friends. I've never used all my cash and will probably only take $100-200 next time. ATM fees are super expensive so you don't want to have to withdraw cash in a casino.
