I bought one about 2 years ago and love it. I had a Mazda before and wanted another one, but knew I wasn't going to get as good of a deal. I had gone with a friend when she bought a base model Mazda3 and since I didn't like the interior of the Mazda at that time I decided to try Hyundai. I hope to have this car for at least 10 more years, but totally plan on looking at Hyundai's again when it's time.
We just bought one a few months ago. H's 2004 Kia was dying a slow death so we bought a brand new Elantra.
We had one as our rental car on our honeymoon and he loved it so that's what we bought. We've had it for 4 months or so and have had zero problems, which is nice because he commutes about 80 miles per day.
DH and I both currently drive 2014 Elantras, and we're big fans. My whole family has had really good experiences with Hyundais in general. DH's first Elantra was 3 years old when he bought it, and it lasted for another 9 years. I drove the same Accent for a decade. They look small on the outside (which is great for parking), but they're actually really roomy on the inside, and they ride really smooth. I'd totally get another one.

I had an '03 Elantra that I'd still be driving today if it hadn't been totaled. I only had one issue, something with the temperature. Other than that, it was a great car. I loved it, when my lease is up on my Passat (which I also love) I plan on going back to Hyundai (hopefully a Tuscon this time)

We just bought our 2nd one last year. The first one lasted 12 or 13 years and over 250 000km with no major repairs. We liked it so much, we bought another. You can't beat them in terms of reliability and longevity.

We have a 2005 elantra and really like it. The only thing is that it feels really close to the ground, but that might be because I am used to driving our Kia rondo.
My husband is still driving a 2004 Elantra he purchased new. There's over 270k miles on it (last I checked). It's been a great car, no real problems, just typical maintenance for a car with that many miles. We'll be buying a new (used) car this year.

DH and I have both had Elantra's for years, and loved them. Never had a problem with them. The only reason we have different cars now is b/c I traded mine in for a mini-van and DH's car got totaled and we couldn't find a used Elantra in our price range in the short amount of time we had to shop.
DH has a 2013 Elantra. We've never had any problems with it. He's got almost 80k on it already. It's a good commuter car, but I don't find it comfortable for long trips. It also doesn't feel very solid to me, I get nervous with him driving it because I feel like if he gets hit, he's not very well protected. But maybe you could say that about any small car.
I do. I have a 2014 Elantra GT (the hatchback). Prior to this, I had a Toyota Corolla (albeit, a 1998 one). I love having a hatchback. I test drove this and the Mazda 3 hatch and liked them both equally, so price won out.
Hyundai isn't the car company it used to be when it first started!
this is so true. A lot of the Toyota engineers from the 80s and 90s moved over to Hyundai. Hyundai has fantastic reviews for reliability over the past 10 or so years, in comparison to Toyota.
DH got a 2013 Elantra when we finally got rid of his 17 year old Toyota Celica. The interior is really, really nice, but I personally wouldn't get one because I felt like there wasn't as much head room (especially in the back). I drive a Toyota Corolla, and I find that the Elantra has way less visibility all around (like the windows are narrower top to bottom). So I personally wouldn't get one, but DH really likes it.
I had a 2004 Hyundai Sonata I bought brand new. I drove it for 10 years. The only reason I got rid of it was I had 2 kids and needed more room. I am considering the Hyundai SUV when I upgrade to another new vehicle. Love them.
I have an 2103 and love it. I had been renting cars for a few years and I always like how the Elantras drove. As I started test driving and price shopping, I realized that you get A LOT for the money in an Elantra. I bought mine used with ~ 16K miles so warranty is good through 50K but I will warn you that if you buy used, the 100K drivetrain is only valid for the 1st buyer. It does not transfer as the 50K overall warranty does. I've had the car for 15 months now with absolutely no problems, it drives really well, awesome gas mileage and I love that I was able to afford a few splurges such as heated seats in it. I had my heart set on a Subaru Forrester next but now I will likely stick with Hyundai and get one of the AWD/4WD versions instead if I don't drive this one into the ground as I normally do with all my cars.
I did a ton of research and am so happy that I ended up with the Elantra! I even get compliments on the body of it which wasn't my concern at the time but I do like that too.

I leased a 2012 Elantra and then bought a 2015 when my lease was up. The 2015 seems a bit lower with less space (headroom) but aside from that I love it. I had a corolla before and I find the Elantra just a good of a drive. I would definitely get another one, you can't beat the price for what you get - heated seats etc.
