Every year around this time of year my MIL starts bugging everyone to make an Amazon wish list so she can shop from it for Christmas. Making a wish list is so foreign to me as we never did this in our family. I never know what the heck to put on it.
I need one items around $100 - $150 as my "big" gift. They always get the "big" item. For my birthday it was a Clarisonic (we have to do wishlists for those, too). I really don't need anything. I put a blender on there at first, but then realize that is totally lame and our current blender works okay, anyway. I wish she would just give me a gift card
Then I have to fill up the wish list with little stuff. Every.single.year I put nail polish on there in specific colors in specific brands, and she'll substitute with some random fug color she finds at Big Lots. lol. So nail polish is out.
I've put makeup on there before and she never purchases these items, so I guess she doesn't like buying makeup.
Every time I put shoes on the wishlist she gets them, so I guess she likes buying me shoes. Same with handbags and usually with jewelry.
Right now my list has two books on food dehydrating, a book on green smoothies, some cute food shaped soaps from etsy, and the Zoya smoke collection which she is highly unlikely to purchase.
No suggestions, but I wish my ILs did this. You would think after 10 years, they would know what I like, but they ask my SIL what she wants and they get me similar things (me and SIL are complete opposites in every way!)
My family and in-laws all use Amazon wishlists, so I add to mine throughout the year when I think of something. You can add gift cards through the universal wishlist, but I don't know if your MIL would buy them. If you really don't need anything, you could put links to charities you support, as well.
I love using the Amazon wish list! I also keep a running list all year long, and add things as I think of them.
Here are some things I have on my list: clarisonic replacement heads (maybe a good follow-up since they bought you the original), travel books for upcoming trips, disposable baking items (cake pop sticks, fun cupcake wrappers, etc), twistband hair ties, k-cup packs, silpat mat, rainboots, Wii games, Rainbow flip flops, and magazine subscriptions.
I try to stick to things I already have and use, but could always stash as a back-up. Consumable items are good too. I also add higher end items that I might not buy for myself (like expensive flip flops) but would definitely appreciate as a gift. People always seem to like to buy items to help me prep for travel too, so that's usually a good one (books, specific clothing, etc).

My MIL is a "lister" too. This year all I can think of is new tupperware - I want both regular and then a glass set (like pyrex).
You can also add pajamas on there if you need new ones. I put those as MIL items every few "rounds" of presents b/c I don't care what my pajamas really look like. There are some DKNY pants on Amazon - their pajamas are usually pretty comfy.
I just got a Breville panini maker that I am more than a little love with. On my wish list, I also have a pair of Frye boots, a clutch, a bunch of kids stuff, about a million books, and I want the new Kindle when it gets released sometime in the next month or two
You can also use the Amazon wish list feature on other websites, and it will link to your Amazon list. So since it sounds like she doesn't only buy you the stuff from Amazon, you can also throw some stuff in there from other stores.
You have to install the extension for whatever browser you use, but once you have that, you can add anything from any website to your Amazon wish list. Its kinda awesome.
I currently have an amazon wishlist going from an art store because I would like to someday upgrade all of my painting supplies and get back into painting.

Definitely take advantage of this feature. You can add items to your Amazon wishlist from any website.

My list has a pair of Born loafers, some Kindle books, a Michele Deco and some bands (not that anyone will buy that for me, ha!), a Magic Bullet, some Ray Ban sunglasses, Pinzon sheets (seriously the best sheets for the price), another memory foam mat for my kitchen, cook books, a mattress pad for our guest bedroom and some random exercise DVDs.
