My parents are selling their house, and my mom is decluttering big-time. She has a mink jacket she inherited from my grandma, and despite my efforts to take it she wants to sell it.
I contacted a fur place near me, and the guy said they don't buy used furs. He suggested selling on Ebay in the fall, which seems odd to me.
Has anyone sold a fur? Is Ebay really our best option?
Update: I stumbled upon a section of Macy's that sells furs in my trip to the mall on Saturday. I told the woman about my grandma's jacket, and she told me how reasonable it is to store ($40/year) and clean. I brought it up with my mom again and she relented. So it's staying in the family
Another vote to keep. I've had my grandmother's fur coat and stole stored since she died. I had my name embroidered in the coat under hers, but I've never worn either one (my sister has picked up the stole twice for weddings). It doesn't help that I'm still storing them at my grandmother's furrier, which is in another state, but I haven't bothered having them shipped closer either. I'd give one or both to my sister if she wanted, but I'd never sell them to anyone. I like having them even if I haven't used them yet.
I dont go here, but I do have strong feelings about fur. May I suggest you donate? There are a few places you can send in furs they use to rehabilitate orphaned animals, as they respond to the real fur. Here is one I know of:
