Tell us one good thing about what you're reading this week.
QOTW: Would you buy a book you would never read as a gift for someone if you knew that person wanted it? (for example Donald Trump's book or a fad diet cookbook)

TGIF! I'm listening to The Shore, and it's a stretch from my norm. I'm not a short story person, and had no idea that was the format. They're interwoven, so I'm looking forward to connecting the threads. Also, the narration is wonderful. So I guess that's two good things
Qotw: I would buy someone a book I wouldn't read if they specifically asked for it.
I'm trying to make a dent in Native American Testimony. I've been reading it for about a month with other books and am just over 100 pages. I'm learning a lot, but I don't necessarily want to pick it up after putting it down.
Will pick up Those Girls by Chevy Stevens after the weekend.
I'm rereading The Raven Boys. I'm not quite ready to be done with them yet.
I'm listening to A Gathering Shadows. I'm about 1/3 done and I'm not sucked in yet, but I see the potential.
I don't know the one good thing, to be honest. I haven't been able to read nearly as much this week as I would like, but I suppose my good thing would be that I have a lot of holds that are due soon that I'm excited about!
QOTW: It really depends on the book and how strongly opposed I am. Also if the specifically requested it it's one thing, but I wouldn't just if they mentioned it in passing. I feel like a total book snob typing that.

I am currently reading/listening to five books at the moment.
I am listening to HP Order of the Pheonix and The Residence which is about the White House staff.
I am reading The Raven King on my nook and I just got through a part that has made me sooo happy that I literally haven't been able to stop smiling about it since I read it.
I am also rereading Pride and Prejudice. Should be done with that soon.
I picked up a book at the library called Childfree and Loving It. My husband and I are childfree by choice and it is a very small minority so it always nice to hear other people's feelings and stories of being childfree and to be able to relate to them.
I should be finished with most, if not all, of these books by next week so I'll have a fresh list.
QOTW - I definitely buy people books that I wouldn't necessary read or agree with. I don't know if I'd get on board with a Donald Trump book but hey to each their own.
I finished A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and loved it, and I read The Templar Legacy (Steve Berry) and liked it well enough, but not enough to keep reading that series.
Now I'm reading Only Beloved (Mary Balogh) and I am loving it. It's the last in her Survivors series, which includes an all-time favorite romance (The Arrangement). Only Beloved has a 48-year old hero and 39-year-old heroine and so far, it's been sweet and lovely.
QOTW - I would avoid buying a book like that if I could. If I had no other ideas for that person, I'd hold my nose and do it, then probably wash my credit card in bleach. (I'm thinking particularly of Trump.)
I'm still reading The Name of the Wind and listening to Six of Crows. One thing that I really like about The Name of the Wind is that it's unpredictable. I never know when things are going to go well or not, and I think it's a good mix. Usually a book has a tendency to fall into a pattern where either everything goes wrong or everything works out, so it ends up predictable either way.
QOTW: I would most likely choose to give them something else they wanted instead.
I'm new to this board. I hope it's OK if I just jump in!
I started The Rainbow Comes and Goes earlier this week. I'm really enjoying it so far. It's a fast read and Gloria Vanderbilt's early life/childhood was really interesting but sad, of course.
QOTW: I'm a firm believer in voting with your money so I would try really hard to not spend my money on something or someone that personally offended me. If someone wants it badly enough then they can get it themselves and I'll get them another gift!
I am reading The 5th Wave. I am not sure there is one good thing about it. I am also not sure if I like it or not yet.
QOTW: Yes
Tangentially related. Has any one see the movie? I was reading it when the previews were coming out and was excited to see it. I also get an email each week from my Library and the movie was listed as one of their new additions. I've requested it. I thought it was still a ways out since I hadn't heard anything. Did it bomb?
I'm reading "Scent of Magic," which is the 2nd book in the Healer series by Maria Snyder. I've really liked her books thus far; I feel she writes really strong female characters.
QOTW: it depends on what it is, I guess. They would have to specifically ask for it.
I'm listening to The Road by Cormac McCarthy and not really all that interested. However, I just now realized (halfway through) that this audiobook version is abridged, so I may just quit now. I really hate reading abridged books; I think they take a lot away from the story most of the time.
Re-reading The Great Hunt, which is the second book in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. All that talk recently about re-reading and all of the depressing/difficult books I've been working through made me want to spend some time with old friends again.
QOTW: depends. A book I am just not interested in? Sure. A book like 100 Reasons Climate Change is a Hoax? Definitely not.

I'm reading Warrior Witch by Danielle Jensen, which released this Tuesday. It's the final book in her Malediction Trilogy. It started in a very exciting manner, but now I'm just slogging through. I haven't picked it up in a whole day. I know it will end well... I just have to get there.
I am reading The 5th Wave. I am not sure there is one good thing about it. I am also not sure if I like it or not yet.
QOTW: Yes

Yes. Yes it did. It got terrible reviews which was sad because I did like the first book (I think the audiobook narrators helped). Second book not so much. I might rent the movie.
I finished The Heir and now I'm listening to The Crown in the Kiera Cass series. I'm also finally making some progress with The Girl on the Train, but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.
QOTW: Call me a book snob, but I'm only going to read what I want to read. Especially since I'm working and back in school, my time is too limited for something I don't really have interest in. If I'm looking for something different I might ask for a recommendation and generally I'd read that. Oh... and I'd never read anything with the name Trump on it.
I'm rereading Witches Under Way by Debora Geary. It's like talking with an old friend at this point. I reread this more often than I care to admit.
I'm listening to The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead. When the narrator does the voice of Tamron, I picture Becky Lynch from the WWE for some reason.
QOTW: Yes. I'm a book pusher and don't care who reads what as long as they read.
I'm listening to Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King. I love it. It's had and held my interest from the very beginning, and I find that I just want to sit in my car and keep listening. And sometimes I do. I'm one CD away from finishing. And yes, I still listen to my audiobooks on actual CDs.
I'm reading The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman. It's wonderful. It was a recommendation from a lifelong friend (of my mom, but I consider her my friend now, too), based on our shared love of historic fiction, and I had no idea what it was about when I started. I also didn't know it was 600 pages long, but whatever. I'm about half through and it's a really lovely book so far.
QOTW: I would absolutely buy someone a book that I wasn't interested in. But I have restrictions. Like someone else said, I believe in voting with my money, so I'm not ever going to spend my money anything involving Donald Trump, or anything that says climate change is a hoax, or anything by Andrew Dice Clay, etc, etc. But if it was just something that I'm not interested in, sure, no problem; I buy my dad fishing books all the time.
I am still reading Morning Star. The good thing is that I finally think I know who everyone is again and it definitely has picked up a bit. I'm looking forward to reading it this weekend (hopefully I will finish - I have 2 other library books waiting for me to hurry up already!)
I'm now about 40% into The Cider House Rules, and the good thing here is that I'm making progress!
I just started reading The Rosie Project yesterday afternoon, and I'm already halfway done. It's a quick, easy read, which is nice, because it's basically like reading an episode of The Big Bang Theory, if Sheldon were a drunken geneticist instead of a physicist. If it were longer and/or more tedious I don't think I would be particularly happy about reading it.
QOTW: I have bought a book that I disagreed with for someone (my brother wanted something that was by some asshole conservative windbag), but it made me feel really icky, so it's doubtful I would do it again.
I'm currently reading A Lucky Child: A Memoir of Surviving Auschwitz as a Young Boy by Thomas Buergenthal. The good thing about it is that I will be paying my respects at Auschwitz next week, so this book is a timely read especially considering I started reading it on Holocaust Remembrance Day.
I'm also a couple chapters into Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison and listening to Harder by Robin York.
QOTW: if it didn't offend me on a moral or intellectual level, like a book on quilting, sure, I'd buy it. Otherwise, you're getting a Barnes and Nobles giftcard and you can buy it yourself if you want it or I'll just buy you a different kind of present all together.

Still reading "Me Before You", hoping to have some time to read this weekend. Hopefully not spoiling anything by saying I just reached what I assume is a turning point. It's good so far (140 pages). I'm glad it's a little less predictable than I thought it would be.
QOTW: Yes I would buy a book. As ufcasey said, as long as it's not a moral or intellectual conflict. I buy my dad a lot of books for gifts, mostly history or financial related. I usually don't read most of the books I buy for him.
I'm more than halfway through The Taxidermist's Daughter by Kate Mosse. It's ok. I'm also listening to Neil Gaiman's short story compendium Smoke and Mirrors, and I love it because he is reading it and his voice is delicious.
Stealing ufcasey's answer for the QOTW: if it didn't offend me on a moral or intellectual level, like a book on quilting, sure, I'd buy it. Otherwise, you're getting a Barnes and Nobles gift card and you can buy it yourself.
I'm reading Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel. It's sci-fi, which I don't read a lot, and totally engrossing.
QOTW: It would depend on how much it offended me. But I rarely buy gifts for people who would want something I'd find offensive. Most likely I'd just choose a different gift.

I'm almost finished with Foreign Eclairs, the last of the White House Chef mysteries. I'm really disappointed in it so far. But I'll finish it. I'm culling my books soon for a charity drive, and I think I may toss in the series. I was really disappointed in the last few and don't think I'll re-read it.
QOTW: Yes, I would, but I'd pay cash. I bought my Dad some of Ann Coulter's books and paid cash for them so there was no record on any of my credit cards or loyalty cards that I bought them.
Tangentially related. Has any one see the movie? I was reading it when the previews were coming out and was excited to see it. I also get an email each week from my Library and the movie was listed as one of their new additions. I've requested it. I thought it was still a ways out since I hadn't heard anything. Did it bomb?
Yes. Yes it did. It got terrible reviews which was sad because I did like the first book (I think the audiobook narrators helped). Second book not so much. I might rent the movie.
I didn't realize the movie was already out. I guess I will look into renting it.
I finished The Royal We earlier this week- I liked it. I tried to read Orchids and Stone, which was a kindle first in April, and DNF. It was impossible to get through. I just started You by Caroline Kepnes yesterday and am enjoying it so far! I probably won't have much reading time the next few days, so I'll finish next week!
QOTW: Yes, with exceptions. If it was something I was totally against or found offensive, I'd buy a gift card or choose another gift.
I'm reading Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel. It's sci-fi, which I don't read a lot, and totally engrossing.
