My mom once gave me a bunch of $2 bills for Christmas ( she had them wrapped up in a cute way) and I got so much push back when I tried to use them. More than once I had to wait while they checked with a manager. I gave them a pass because most of them were young kids but I really expect more from educators. And then they couldn't even give her an apology? I hope her parents are raising hell cause I would be.
I refuse to believe that a team of educators and police officers didn't know what a $2 bill was. Sure theyre not super coming but most people have seen one. My cousin just gave DD one, and 2 other kids. He had a pocket full of them and was passing 5hem out like candy.
There is a recycling center in Houston that "pays you in $2 bills!" so I don't believe no one has seen them. Even if you had not seen one, I find it hard to believe you missed the giant advertising campaign from C&D Scrap Metal. They have billboards, run radio commercials and TV commercials.
It strikes me as mor if a we don't trust this student.

lol- i hate that place! I feel like it's a money laundering place or they are up to something shady...
plus with al the cooper theft, I feel like they encourage people to steal stuff & give it to them...
I think it sounds like the problem was more that the bill was so old that the school's counterfeit pen didn't work, rather than that people didn't believe in $2 bills.
What troubles me more is that there have been 40 investigations for counterfeit money being used to buy school lunches. That seems like a lot!
Ted Oberg Investigates examined police reports between the 2013-14 school year and 2016 dealing with lunch line forgery from Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD & Cy-Fair ISD.
In all there were 40 cases. Cy-Fair had the most, Houston ISD the least. Only Fort Bend ISD police were willing to talk about it. Cy-Fair responded with an email saying, " CFISD is aware of the disproportionate placement of minority students nationally," but refused to to make its police chief available.. HISD declined comment.
With copper recycling you have to give an ID so most large places do not encourage copper stripping.
As for the counterfeit money, I used to work near Cy fair in cash handling and there were some convincing ten dollar bills being passed around. Some places don't check bills smaller than 20 so it does not surprise me that they would make it into the school cafeteria.
