How's it going?
I've got friends coming to visit in a couple weeks and I'm so freaking excited. Also, it puts R into high gear regarding finishing our downstairs bathroom. I'm not disappointed. LOL
I need bloodwork today so I'm fasting and I guess because I can't eat, I want to eat EVERYTHING. OMG. And I'm sitting here, the only awake person in the house (I think) and all I can smell is toast. WTH? I haven't made toast in forever because insulin resistant, and R isn't awake. Why do I smell toast?
Our neighbor is on medical marijuana and he grows his own on the back porch. Which is fine, but it's ripening (is that the right word?) and OMG, it smells so bad. Blech.

My mom is coming to visit...usually she stays in a hotel, but this time she's staying on an air mattress in DS's room, which is going to be a little too close for comfort, lol. Plus, she's sick so she's bringing her germs here, but better here than with my sister where she was staying to help my BIL through his last round of chemo! I'm hoping she'll at least hang out with DS while I get a bunch of lawn stuff done. :-)
I'm regretting the landscaping I have done so far. I might dig up the arborvitae and bush I just got and try to find a place for them in the backyard.
This is the big veggie planting weekend! All the remaining veg go in the ground. Except maybe the nightshades. I may delay those a week to give it time to warm up a bit more.
I b'tched about the rain on MMM but I'll do it here too. We've gotten SO MUCH RAIN. I think it's 16 days straight. It's just not good for the garden. I mean, rain is good but the lack of sun? My zinnia seedlings haven't grown in over a week. And I fear our strawberries will suffer as a result of this weather too.
I've got ~65% of the garden planted...maybe 75%. I need to fill in a bit but again, this rain. WHEN? Most of my runner beans are up but one section. Maybe the birds feasted on them? Only like 1/2 of my sweet peas too....not sure what's going on there.
Basement reno is going well - I can't wait to see it drywalled!
Also, my H SWEARS he saw a hummingbird at the flower basket he got me for Mother's Day. I told him he was crazy, that it's WAY too early for hummingbirds to be in our state already, but I just googled and there have already been sightings reported in our area and further north. Huh.
DH is going to rip up the carpet in the LR and put down the same wood floors we did in our dining room.
My question is....do those two rooms (DR and LR) have to run the same way with the wood? They are not attached to each other and can't see the rooms from each other. What is the rule for deciding which way to run the wood?

I am KILLING it today!!
8am: found out my rockstar client has agreed to get rid of his racist, sexist jerk contractor and keep me! 9am: google conference call where I got approvals for all our map locations. 9:30 am: save the day for another project that is supposed to open today but the contractor is having a hard time getting their approvals. 10am: get my partner to agree to give me control of our business legally 10:30am: DH send me an awesome music playlist that he made me for mother's day.
I don't even care if the rest of the day goes to shit, this morning has been amazing!!

Trying to get a ton of house stuff done. Still unpacking boxes and arranging furniture. We're having some friends from out of state come for the weekend. This was planned a while ago, but then it turns out another couple of mutual friends will coincidentally be in the area for another reason, so they will also visit. Not sure whether they'll stay the night, but I offered. So also trying to find all the sheets and mattress pads and pillows for the guest bedrooms.
Oh, and DS1 taught DS2 how to climb out of his crib this week. Like showed him where to put his feet and how he could grip better if he took off his socks. He's only 22 mo, which is much earlier than I would've liked to put him in a bed. He's waking up and coming into our room at all hours of the night. With DS1, we waited until he was 3 and he was such a rule follower he never got up. I'm at a loss for what to do now.
Nurse Cramer had stopped speaking to Nurse Duckett, her best friend, because of her liaison with Yossarian, but still went everywhere with Nurse Duckett since Nurse Duckett was her best friend....Nurse Cramer was prepared to begin talking to Nurse Duckett again if she repented and apologized.

How helpful of him....not!
I feel so sorry for you, and I completely understand. Our youngest figured it out on her own when she was 15 mos old. She wouldn't stay put in the crib or i a bed, and had to be held to fall asleep. Even worse was that she had a habit of crying herself to sleep, (not really crying, but yeah, crying with a pattern that you could hear that was different than actual need/discomfort/whatever crying), which meant that it was in the ear of whoever was unlucky enough to put her to bed. It was hell.

Youngest kids, right?! Remember when my DD2 figure it out? It was like 18 months? Ugh. She's still a spitfire. I had to call poison control this week because she ate a bunch of blue to-dye powder while putting it all over the cat. It's not harmful, thank goodness, but her urine was interesting! Nursecramer - my first was a rule follower too!

Yes, that sounds like something DS2 would do! And he can open ANYTHING. Screw caps, childproof medicine bottles, he even pried open the lid of a paint can (it had been pushed on between coats, not hammered on) and managed to dip his hand in it before I could grab him.

I would run them all the same way, but I'm also a little OCD about those things.

Doesn't it matter which way the joists run? Or does that only matter if you have plank subfloors?
I'm going to IKEA tomorrow! I can't wait to have a real guest bed! I'm also going to have In N Out for the first time ever! In case you couldn't tell, I'm incredibly excited about all of it.
I went home during lunch to check on the status and almost killed my h. He is at home while they work. He was supposed to go over the dimensions with the project manager this morning. My h and I had discussed the height of the power burner for 2 days and then the contractor said that a dimension we thought was from the bottom of the countertop was to the top and then my h said oh well whatever that dimension, we will change it to x. Like, he doesn't get that it freaking matters where exactly that dimension is??!!! So he acts all confused and accuses me of changing stuff and being a micromanager. wtf. I know I'm an engineer but a few inches here and there for a custom project matters. rage..
