I just finished The Marriage Game by Alison Weir. It's about Queen Elizabeth 1. It was pretty repetitive and I slogged through it. I'm now reading An Echo in the Bone (Outlander). I usually read one of the Outlander books then read something else. Next up is The Nightingale.
I'm reading Close Your Eye Hold Hands by Chris Bohjalian. So far, I'm really enjoying it.
My son and I are doing a First to Fifty Challenge. We are trying to read 50 new books in 2016 and the first one to hit 50 wins. It's been so fun and I've read a lot of fabulous books so far. I'm on book 19.
I'm reading Girl in the Blue Coat right now and I love it. It's a mystery/suspense set in Amsterdam during the Holocaust.
Still reading Spectacle: The Astonishing Life of Ota Benga. It's a hard read. It's really depressing to read about that time of our history when we thought it was appropriate to steal people from their home and put them in a fucking zoo.
I recently finished Girl in the Dark and Out of Darkness. I finished both very quickly. Girl in the Dark was a murder mystery and was pretty good. It was about a single mother who finds out that she has an older brother who is in prison and happens to be autistic. She is a lawyer and investigates her brother's case because she feels like something is not right with how it all went down.
Out of Darkness was the most depressing (but excellent) book I've ever read. I've never felt so devastated by a book before. The New London school explosion of 1937 is the backdrop for the storyline but it focuses on the characters involved. It is fucking heartwrenching and explores segregation and interracial relationships.
I just read The Butterfly Garden (it was what I picked this month from Kindle First). It kind of stressed me out. I need to find something to read next since I just finished last night.

I recently finished "The Truth According to Us" (by one of the authors of The Guernsey Potato Peel and Literary Society, or whatever it was called), which I liked a lot, and "Frog Music" by Emma Donoghue (author of Room), which was interesting but I had a hard time getting into.

First Women: The Grace and Power of American First Ladies. I'm really enjoying it but its not really a quick read. Probably the longest its taken me to finish a book in recent memory. It's very interesting and I haven't put it down which says a lot.
I just finished Eligibile by Curtis Sitenfield and I enjoyed it. It felt long too b/c it had a lot of short chapters. Maybe P&P was that long too, I just don't remember.

Wow. I read a book about the Dionne Quintuplets and it was terrible. This poor guy was all alone.
I recently finished The Good Girl and didn't like it.
I didn't like The Good Girl either, and I was sad about it. I'd heard such great things. I hear great things about the author's other books, but I don't know if I want to try them since TGG was such a big miss for me.
I'm reading Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin right now about how to change habits. I'm also in the middle of Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave. It's fine-ish.
