Finishing up a library ebook before it expires: Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison
QOTW: I'm on vacation now so yup, I filled my phone up with ebooks, especially for all the flights.
How are you liking it? I hear really good reviews, but I started it years ago and only got about 3% in before I put it down. I never end up getting back to it.
I honestly almost gave up on it at the beginning too. I'm at the 75% mark now and it did get better but I'd only give it 3.5 stars as of right now. I do hear it improves as the series goes along so maybe I'll try the second book out later on down the line.

I'm reading Winter at Death's Hotel, which is interesting, but I'm finding it difficult to settle in and read more than one chapter at a time. Maybe that will get better when I get further into the book.
QOTW: More often than not, I'll take the new book with me and finish the almost finished one when I get home. I feel very self-conscious with two books, especially if they're big books. It's not as much of a problem now with ebooks and apps, but still most of my reading is paper books.
I just finished Dark Witch by Nora Roberts and I took the 2nd and 3rd in the series out from the library today. And yet, I am deciding if I liked it enough to keep going. (I tend to stay committed to the end!) I have several other choices available...
QOTW: I love the Nook for this reason. I can have multiple choices if I need more or something different to read, especially when traveling.

It's funny - I think there must be two personality types when it comes to e-readers: 1) those who have just one or two books on their reader at any one time, and 2) those who load up the reader with everything.
Kind of like morning people and night owls - neither one is right or wrong, but one probably can't imagine being like the other.

I finished The Crown on audiobook. I'm in the middle of The Girl on the Train now and I started The Unexpected Everything. Trying to pick my next audiobook....
QOTW: If I know I'm going to have time to read I make sure I have something else. Usually I have two books going at once: 1 physical, 1 digital, so I'm usually okay if I have both.

How did you like The Crown? I just read it today and I liked it so much better than The Heir.
I finished You and Where They Found Her this week. Both were good! Starting The Orphan Train tonight.
QOTW: I almost always have multiple books downloaded on my kindle. And, lately I have a handful of paperback or hardcovers thanks to the Barnes & Noble less than 1 mile from my work with a used book section. That used book section is SO dangerous and I wish I didn't know about it- haha!
I'm so happy to see a 2 page Friday reading thread.
I'm re-reading The Great Hunt (2ndin Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time) and I just finished listening to Charles Frazier's Nightwoods, which someone here recommend recently.
Still working my way through The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman. I've been listening to Bird Box, but I think I might quit on it. I'm going to start another thread about this, I think.
QOTW - Yes, if I'm reading on my kindle, I have tons of unread books in there. If I'm reading a paper book and I'm almost done, I usually bring my Kindle too.

I really liked it! I just really enjoy the series and I liked the way it ended. I did like Eadlyn much better in this one than The Heir, she was so snobby. I feel like this series fulfilled my guilty pleasure (The Bachelor) in between seasons so it couldn't have come at a better time lol.

I just finished Eleanor & Park. It was a cute read!
I just started A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. I am only a few chapters in but loving it!
QOtD: I usually have a few books going at once. I have try not to keep too many on my kindle/audio books feed because I easily overwhelm myself and have difficulty choosing!! Im a better "One at a time" kinda girl <3

Keep with it. The series is pretty good and it gets more interesting after a few books. Some books are much better than others and a few of the characters that you meet in the first book pop up later in the series.
What has you not really liking/getting into the story?

Basically I can't figure out why everyone thinks Rachel should be making all the decisions and is worth risking their life for. Or how/why the whole death threat thing against her could just be bought off in the first place. Or why she thought capturing this one bad dude would get them to stop wanting to kill her. The worldbuilding and characters are all there but the explanations for motives and actions just seemed to be lacking and it kept throwing me off. But maybe that resolves itself later? My GR friend convinced me that it gets better after the first three books, so I've decided I'll continue on with it and see how it goes.
I just finished A Court of Mist and Fury. I loved it. It was much better than book 1. Didn't quite go in the direction I was expecting but made it better. Also, lots of hot sex. I was not expecting that either, lol. No way would I classify it as YA though.
I only take my Kindle with me on vacations. I can only read at home in the quiet. (So after bedtime because LOL at quiet with a 5 year old around).
I'm about 70 pages into this and please tell me she ditches Tamlin for Rhys. "You're no one's subject!" :::SWOON:::

Your questions will be answered in later books Book 4 was my least favorite so if you get to that one and it seems to drag just power through it since book 5 is a bit of a wild ride and definitely makes up for it!

Keep reading!! Then tell me when you are done so we can discuss it! I cannot wait for book 3.
Fine - be that way! Lol. He reminds me of Rhett Butler.
I love Rhys. He's the star of the book. That's all I will say, lol!!
Good. I'm liking Tamlin less and less. I never read Twilight, but he reminds me of all the criticisms of Edward. He's supposed to be sweet and romantic and protective, but he's really creepy and obsessive and controlling.
