it might be because i'm one of those over-nice-people-pleaser types. LOL! oprah hates people like me. i feel like being a snot to a guy who came around the corner and found himself face-to-face with a boob isn't really helpful to "the cause." it's surprising regardless of how you feeling about NIP. i think being kind and helping other people to be comfortable around bfing is going to be part of the normalizing process. if he had rolled his eyes or something when he came around the corner, i'd be all down with her little snarky shots.
I think it needs to come from both sides. People need to not be shocked when they see women NIP and women who NIP need to not be snarky when people are shocked/have the reaction the server had.

But, then they couldn't have a sassy mom for their "funny" commercial.

Yup. The more it's out there, so to speak, the more normal it becomes.

I just watched it and love it! I was at a market cafe with my h having dinner and trying to nurse my son when he was just a few weeks old. He was under a cover, but I still heard comments from the group of 20 somethings at a nearby table. "I would never do that in public" blah blah blah. When I switched sides, I could see them all turn to stare (reflection in the window). I wanted to go and ask if they needed cream for their coffee or something, but I just sat ridiculously embarrassed instead.
Also somewhat related I find those damn beanie hats that look like boobs obnoxious as fuck. My MIL wanted to get me one and I was like "the fuck, why would I want more attention on myself when I am trying to NIP." annoying
I am 100% a covered NIP. I can't handle people looking at me so a cover does the job for me.
I liked it. But that's kind of how I feel. There was a marked difference between how I NIP and how DHs aunt (whose baby was a few months older than T) NIP. It was her third kid, and she nursed everywhere.
I LOVE it. Probably because I have been exactly where she is, and have gotten that same look from the waiter at a restaurant, lol. But he recovered quickly enough and didn't even raise an eyebrow when I ordered a beer. ;-)
I think ANYTHING that shows that NIP doesn't require getting covered is a good thing.
I once had an older woman tell me when I was NIP (covered) that in her day, breasts were for your husband. I needed to invest in bottles. I told her times had changed.
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"

I think I would have been speechless. Possibly because I would be laughing too hard.

also it's funny because I've actually gotten more attitude and dirty looks while nursing UNDER a cover. Now that I rarely use a cover, I haven't gotten any kind of flack. Maybe people sense more confidence from me and are more hesitant to shoot dirty looks, I dunno.
"she's already ordered" made me smirk. Not gonna lie. Lol.
me too.
I think the commercial would have been better w/out the snarky "eyes up here" remark, and if the woman would have just nonchalantly ordered what she wanted, and then tossed in the line about the baby having already ordered.
