Ear tube people--shirt that buttons?

Huh? Nope. Wasn't recommended for us and sounds like a strange request. They may have inner ear pain, but there are no bandages and the outer ear isn't sore.

DS wore pajamas there, and pajamas home, which is pretty standard for pediatric surgery.

They're saying she needs to wear one for surgery? That was definitely not requested for either of my kids. At the hospital, they were changed into johnnies/scrubs that they wore into the OR. After they'd been cleared in recovery to go home, we just put their regular clothes back on, which I am certain included just regular t-shirts.

DD1's info doesn't say that. I was just going to take her in pjs if we are the first surgery of the day. Or regular clothes if we are the last.

They just said to wear comfy clothes and bring an extra pair of underwear. She was is a gown for the surgery.

Nope. DS wore HA zippy jammies but anything would have worked.

That's kind of what I was thinking? Maybe it was a general surgical procedure sheet.

That's probably it. Those sheets often tell me to wear a button up shirt even when a completely different area of my body is being worked on.

FYI - We did have some bloody drainage overnight the night of surgery, and I believe the following as well. But other than that and maybe a few days of grogginess or irritability, it was pretty smooth sailing. Fast forward a week and he was a totally different kid. Made such a difference with his health and hearing. Hope you have the same result!

ETA: It's also common for them to insert a suppository pain med and/or anti-nausea med in the OR before they wake up, as they may be nauseous and probably won't have an IV to access.

Nope, they've always said to wear PJs.

I did have DS wear a loose shirt, since I wasn't sure how much he'd want his ears touched after surgery. But definitely nothing with buttons for us.

DS has had three surgeries, tubes were two of em. We did pjs for all.
