"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
Entertaining. We don't entertain all the time or anything, but when we do we go all out with the food, wine and booze. I also spend a good bit on makeup and probably more than most people spend on clothes and accessories. Oh, and we eat out a lot. We are pretty frugal with everything else including living in a really cheap house.

Oh, I forgot about entertaining. Last year I spent an insane amount of money on food, alcohol, and dinnerware for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I seriously can't stop myself when it comes to feeding other people.

We spend a lot of money on a lot of things - travel, food, good wine and beer, the gym (Crossfit is not cheap), DH's hobbies - snowboarding, dirt biking, motorcycling, gun collecting, our cars, our house (SFH in a HCOL), our dogs - we are DINKs but hope to have a kid next year - I see us cutting way back on some of our luxury expenses when we have a kid, especially to see if we could make it on just his salary.
Not really weird, but I spend the most on my son. I like to buy American made toys when I can.
Also, grandma spoils him. She's bought most of his book collection, and just bought him 3 prints for his play room. www.randalspangler.com/ She also shelled out some bucks to frame his cross stitched birth announcement that she made.
I don't spend too much on his clothing since he's grown so much (can fit a 3T, and he's 20mo.) He gets pretty good baby shampooo, and sunscreen.

Everything? We really believe you get what you pay for. I generally don't cheap out on stuff. For the most part, I'd rather do without than have junk. Which is why we are poor.
My mom is pretty sure I'm touched since I'm not buying all of Joanna's clothes from Walmart. She's my first kid, and she's a girl. What am I supposed to do?? lol
We get our stuff at The Gap, Old Navy. I think it'd be different if E was a girl.

If I had to choose, probably food-I don't buy much generic but we also don't buy organic. We don't spend much on travel, rarely spend on clothes (at least I don't) and I don't really buy makeup, shoes or purses. I do get my eyebrows waxed once a month rather than going cheap and plucking.
Travel, makeup and food. Those are the biggies, I don't like cheapy clothes but don't go shopping all that often so I don't think it's really much of splurge

Lol. Yeahhh... I can't even admit to half the purchases I've spent on my kid.
The gym. I get so many lectures on how we're overpaying, lalalalalala. But you know what? I LOVE my gym. The childcare centers are da bomb, the locker rooms are awesome, as is the cafe, equipment, customer service, classes for kids, classes in general, outdoor pool with waterslides. I'm so tired of having this convo with my friends.
Wine and food. Our grocery budget is pretty high but I love to cook, I love good wine and coffee and groceries are increasingly getting more expensive.
Clothes and make-up. Not 100% of the time, but more than not, I feel you get what you pay for.
Me too. I love mine too, though, and to me the expense is worth saving elsewhere for. Awesome daycare, cafe, spa, facilities, and classes, and, most importantly, it's 5 minutes from my house. I run there a lot. I love being able to get there quickly.
Books, food, dog food, private therapy for both kids (thankfully we hit the deductible for Edith in March), birthday parties...that's about it. We're pretty frugal and live way below our means, but there are things on which we don't skimp.

Groceries. I am not picky at all but my husband is the most picky person with food. He will never eat meat from just a grocery store. It has to be from a high end butcher. That is just a little bit of how picky he is.

I spend a good amount on skin care & hair care. It’s totally worth it because both my skin & hair have done a 180. I get a wax 1-2x a month, so not horrible. I haven’t had a haircut in almost 5mo, but I usually spend ~$100 every 3 months for cut/color/highlights since my friend works at a salon.
I’m starting to spend more on fewer quality pieces of clothes, rather than less on multiple cheap pieces. You actually end up saving money because the pieces last longer & don’t need to constantly be replaced. I do spend a little more on some of my vegan food items, but that’s it. I’m pretty frugal in everything else. And I’m totally jealous of those who spend on travel. We don’t go anywhere…
-having my hair colored so that it's a nicer version of my natural color.
-massages. i know that they're expensive. i don't care. i'd rather a massage than a meal at a fancy restaurant.
-travel. not so much where we go (now with the kid it isn't exotic), but we do it up nice. i'd rather stay at a kickass place for 4 days than a so-so place for 7.
