I'm more and more getting on the bandwagon of spending more on better quality products. I haven't been able to do it with meat yet but I think I'm going to start once we get to CA. We don't buy a lot of crap now but I do sometimes cheap out on things.
I spend a decent amount on makeup, skincare, and hair stuff. I've just recently started using more expensive products and I have noticed a major difference.
Oh and diapers. I hate the cheap diapers.
Oh, this is weird but I won't buy off brand art supplies or toys for DD. I would rather spend more and have it last a little longer.
For me it is most definitely make up, and purses. I also will spend any amount necessary on my cats for their well being. I  them so much. We do spend a lot on food too. Ugh who am I kidding, I am a straight up becky bloomwood. I love to shop.

The gym. I get so many lectures on how we're overpaying, lalalalalala. But you know what? I LOVE my gym. The childcare centers are da bomb, the locker rooms are awesome, as is the cafe, equipment, customer service, classes for kids, classes in general, outdoor pool with waterslides. I'm so tired of having this convo with my friends.
Wine and food. Our grocery budget is pretty high but I love to cook, I love good wine and coffee and groceries are increasingly getting more expensive.
Clothes and make-up. Not 100% of the time, but more than not, I feel you get what you pay for.

You better believe, I am going to try to upgrade to first class. I am not trying to stuff my 6'1" legs into coach, unless necessary. H usually agrees, but one time he said we should just ride coach, and I said good luck to him, but my ass is sitting up front. lol Don't play

Treats and toys for our dog. Travel and hobbies. I embroider and H builds guns. His used to be cars and all that, but he lost interest after his dad died

Beer. We don't buy shitty beer, ever. Our hipster friends don't get it, and we've been called out for buying spendy beer, but I'm not going to deal with a shitty hangover from drinking swill all night (like miller genuine draft, PBR, Labbatt 50, Budweiser).
MM would lose their shit if they knew what the last 2 years have cost me
I remember soliciting to the UW Madison for grad school because it had such a "cheap" application fee that I said "what the hell.. it's only $35". That was 12 years ago, and application fees for all the other schools that I applied were between $70-90. And I applied to 7 schools.
Go figure, at the end, I went to UW. I COULD HAVE SAVED SO MUCH DOUGH!
I don't even want to know how much an application to med school proper is (most of the programs that I applied to were in the medical school)
Moe, you're on the right track. Now adjust for inflation, the fact that I applied to 26 programs this year and 20 last year, then pour me a drink and lets have a good cry.
