Sorry for another kid question.
Where did you get your kids furniture?
We're switching DD to a regular bed soon and I need some ideas. I don't think we want something that is going to last her forever right now, but I do want something that will last a couple of years at least. We got her a convertible crib but it won't work for much longer. The back is already coming loose.
I like Land of Nod. I also recently discovered Hayneedle, and I've liked the two pieces of furniture I've gotten from there. We got DS a bunk bed and got some porch furniture. Besides being a total pain in the ass to assemble, we like them!
Avoid PB Kids. Overpriced and really poor quality, in my experience.
over the course of my life, i've had a few things from the ikea hemnes line. they've all held up very well. we just got L the hemnes twin. it's nice a low to the ground and ikea sells these side rails (not hemnes, but the same white color) that you can put on there for the short term.
We have the Ikea Kura bunk bed. We do have it positioned so DS is bunked. It isn't too high, maybe 4 feet off the ground. DS has a lot of his toys underneath for playing and it really expanded the floor pace in his tiny room.
Kid bed? Psh, we have the Hemnes as our actual bed. And yeah, it has, um, held up well. Ditto for the matching dressers in our room. They all just survived a cross country move, and had to be transferred from one truck to another (so were sort of moved an extra time).
I'm sure it would be just fine for a kid.
I hate that Ikea is still our go-to for furniture, but it is. Natalie has the pink Malm 3 drawer dresser, and some random side table we got off amazon. She slams the crap out of those drawers, and they've held up very well. 2 years in and no complaints. For the dresser or the bed.

We have a lot of Ikea furniture too. We have two Hemnes dressers and I'm really pleased with them. I just didn't know if that stuff would hold up with an active toddler, but that one is definitely going on my list.

Our Hemnes items have held up well too. I've noticed with Ikea goods the entry-level priced items are more particle board and don't last, but for even a teeny bit more money, lines like Hemnes contains REAL wood.
I really wanted the Hemnes white daybed for her big girl room, but we inherited a beautiful cherry dresser and I didn't want to mix and match colors. But I certainly like $40 as opposed to $399.
I went with a local chain in Cleveland that sold several product lines for kiddo's dresser and when we moved here and upgraded I found another local that sold the same product line to buy her matching bed.
She's now co-opted our guest room with its queen bed from JCP and dresser from another local store.
