One of my books (a trade paperback, not a cheap mass market paperback) is falling apart. The first several pages are falling out. On a cheap book, I would just hot glue/tape it back together. But this is one of my "nicer" favorite books in a series, so I want it fixed properly. I've only read it twice, but it's book 2 of Outlander, so it's a long ass book that gets put up and down frequently while I finish it.
I'm a bad book owner and often put my books down while open, but have been trying not to do that and put a proper bookmark in my books.
How does one go about doing this, and how much does it usually cost? Will the local library do it?
What do the trade paperbacks go for? If it's around $20 I would imagine it might be worth it to buy a new copy. I did try to see if I could find one, but it was challenging, so maybe they are more expensive than I think.
Sorry, I'm not sure how much it costs to have the binding fixed, but I can't imagine it would be less than $20-30. I could be wrong though.
I don't know much about book binding, but trade paper packs are nicer than mass market paper backs because of the quality of the paper, not because of the quality of the binding. I can't say with 100% certainty, but I think they likely use the same glue.
Given that this is a current popular book, still in print and not some rare leather bound first edition, getting it rebound would almost certainly not be worth your time or money.
