Recently I've been trying to replace my 1st-3 Harry Potter Books with First Editions (the last 4 already were). It just made me curious about you all... Do you have any 1st edition books or series or any sort of special printed collections? I also recently came across these adorable printed versions of Little Women, Heidi, Anne of Green Gables and A Little Princess. I think that these would be a cute collection to have as well.

I'm new to looking for first editions or signed copies. So far I have The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman, the Raven Cycle and The Scorpio Races in signed 1st editions I have a 1st edition of Outlander as well.

Did you get to meet the authors or were these signed copies released? Either way I like the idea of having signed copies too...I never seem to be able to catch the authors I like when they're in town.

I have a few first editions. Naturally the more recent books are easier to come by. My most prized find was a first edition copy of Stephen King's The Stand--I found it at a library sale for $1!

My husband would be jealous of that one! I'm trying to make his stephen king collection all matchy at least the dark tower series...that's a gem though!

I prefer to actually read my copies so I'm not too concerned about which edition they are. I have a few signed copies, mostly Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series, but a couple of others as well. I have a couple of books of poetry personally signed by the author who is a friend's father.
I have editions of Little Women, A Little Princess, and The Secret Garden illustrated by Tasha Tudor, and I searched for those particular editions in hardcover.
But mostly I want to read my books and don't look at them as any particular investment so I'm not really concerned with editions or getting them signed.

No, but I wish. I ordered them online. I live in the middle of nowhere. I love it but it does have its drawbacks when it comes to book signings.
My first signed book was one that I bought for 25¢ from a sale at an online book liquidator (a place that sold stuff like the piles of new hardcovers at Half Price Books). I'd never heard of it, but I thought it sounded interesting, so I added it to a big order of cheap stuff. When it showed up, it had the author's signature in the front! (Oddly enough, years later my father bought me a copy for Christmas, because he thought it would be something I'd like.)
I also have the signed edition of Ocean at the End of the Lane, and I had Neil Gaiman sign my paperback copy of Good Omens. I reeeeeally wish I could have had it signed by Terry Pratchett as well.
