I'm newer to the board. Looking to see what are the best books to read right now. I just read "Me Before You" and I have "After You" on hold. Looking for more ideas to load up my Overdrive account.
I enjoy murder mystery, romance, young adult and some non-fiction, however I do try to branch out every once and a while (i.e. The Martian, The Nightengale etc.)
Also, does this group do any group reads, or challenges?

I'm loving anything by Colleen Hoover right now. Rainbow Rowell too. I really enjoyed the Selection series and I'm waiting for my hold on the final book in The Lunar Chronicles.

Thank you for your help! After I posted this I noticed the "books recommended by the board" thread, but it never hurts to hear about every book out there.I'll check out these options, I've heard of Colleen Hoover before, haven't read anything yet.

We don't have so much traffic here that we reject similar questions being asked, even if there is an old thread on the matter.
For murder mystery, have you read Robert Galbraith's (a.k.a. JK Rowling) Cormoran Strike books? I'm not a huge mystery reader but thought these were great. Start with the Cuckoo's Calling, then The Silkworm, then Career of Evil.
We've done the occasional group read or challenge in the past but with marginal success. We have more members now that the book club from "the other place" has migrated over here, so if there's something you want to propose definitely do so!
I just listened to Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King, and it was great. I love Dennis Lehane for crime mysteries, too.
For non-fiction, what sorts of things are you interested in?
Devil in the White City by Erik Larson was fantastic non-fiction that read like fiction about the Chicago World's Fair and the serial killer that used the fair as a backdrop for his evil-doing. It was fantastic.
I loved Keith Richards' autobio, Life. And the Motley Crue band autobio The Dirt was fantastic and I'm not really even a fan.

Hi Suzie, I like "rock star" books, that came up a bit on the other page. I loved loved loved "Scar Tissue" and the Dave Navarro book he did right before he met Carmen Electra. I have on my TBR list the Dave Ghrol book, "Whores" (Perry Ferral), "Everybody loves our Town" (about grunge), Scott Weiland's book and the "Fall to Pieces" by his ex-wife but I"m always looking for more. I also enjoy certain topics, for some reason I love reading about the mormon cults (Warren Jeffs), school shootings and real life murder mysteries like Jodi Arias and Amanda Knox. I did enjoy Missoula, but that one went a little long for me.
