Yep. It's said over the loudspeaker and the students stand, say it as well, and put their hand over their hearts. I don't know if any students sit out though, I never asked DDs. We also say it at the beginning of our Girl Scout meetings.
My kid is three and knows it by heart, so yes? They also have a "flag helper" who gets to hold the little flag during the pledge and they put their hands on their hearts. I don't know if this is throughout the daycare though, or just in his class. His teacher is in the reserves, so may do this on her own. I'm pretty impressed!
Everyday after announcements unless there is a morning assembly, then they do it as a school (k-5). The boy scouts also bring in the flags first to start off the assembly.
Yes, mine does, along with the moment of silent meditation. They're not forced to if they don't want but most do. Our high school also has a Bible club and the kids sometimes pray around the flag pole before school starts in the morning. In the liberal Northeast. *gasp*
We don't but not because we worry about offending anyone. It just seems like a weird thing to do every morning, that's all. Taking an oath to the flag doesn't seem to have anything to do with my math class lol.
I teach 6th at a public school. The National Anthem is played over the loudspeaker, then in the classrooms we say the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the PeaceBuilders' Pledge. (Lots of pledging happening here). I don't force anyone to do anything except stand. DS just told me that he only says it on Fridays. That's kind of weird. He just finished K at a Catholic school.
