I grew up around here, and earthquakes alone don't freak me out, but if there was a volcanic eruption thrown into the mix that would freak me out for sure. I think a volcano blowing up would make me freak out more than if I experienced a hurricane or tornado, because there is usually more warning with those.
The only thing that freaks me out more than volcanoes would be a "Contagion" like epidemic, or a zombie apocalypse.
I feel like the anticipation of something like that would be the scariest part. Since earthquakes come on with no warning AND I grew up with them, they don't really freak me out. But anything where we had to evacuate our house or go hide in the basement would scare me - hurricanes, tornadoes. The wildfires on the news look awful too. I guess I'd just worry more than anything about losing my house, or being seperate from H and/or the dog if something happened.
I miss thunder and lightning/big storms like I grew up with on the coast. They were kind of scary but also exciting, energizing, and cool. The one that makes me most nervous is probably a tornado since i have zero experience with them, there is significantly less notice than with a hurricane, and the destruction is so violent.
I'm not really scared of earthquakes. Buildings in this day and age are earthquake reinforced, the real damage concern for earthquakes is in 3rd world countries.
Everything else (including thunderstorms, lol) totally freaks me out. Says the girl who grew up in California.

Big wind storms kind of scare me but I get excited for them too because I know I'm safe. Tsunamis scare me. I have been in Hawaii for two of them and even though (thankfully) they were a bust, I am now terrified of them. Now when I go to HI I always look up the tsunami evacuation plan where we are staying.

I'm freaked out by a lot of natural disasters. Earthquakes, tornadoes, typhoons, hurricanes, volcano eruptions. I think it's because there is absolutely no way of controlling them.
When we lived in Texas I would freak out because I knew a storm was coming. No signs of weather change at all, I could just sense it. The daycare or school would have to call my mom because I couldn't stop crying.
I blame the Wizard of Oz. Tornadoes are scary!
I try and not think about the big earthquake everyone keeps saying we are going to have. *don't think about it, don't think about it*
Earthquakes don't really bother me. I've narrowly missed 2 hurricanes and those weren't terrible either.
My little Northwest pea brain can't comprehend the other stuff though. Soooo, I guess it doesn't really bother me because I can't even imagine what it'd be like to be in a tornado.
Thunder freaks me out though. I really hate thunder.
Tornadoes scare the HELL out of me. Growing up in the midwest tornadoes were frequent and unpredictable as far as whether or not they'd form, if they formed, where they'd head, how strong they'd be, how many.... I also am terribly afraid of them at night, since I would be barefoot, pants-less, and without glasses if I had to make a run for the basement. The without glasses part scares me the most. Just thinking about it makes my blood pressure rise. I have been in one minor earthquake, it was freaky. But I'm not sure I'm too afraid of them. Two blizzards and I'm not afraid of that at all...
