DD3 is 2 and comfort nurses a few times daily, she nurses to nap and go to bed (and in the MOTN if she wakes up) at this point I have colostrum and she seems to not care. If you nursed a NB and a toddler did your milk come in faster? Did the new baby affect your toddler's desire to breastfeed? I have had supply issues which led me to supplement all of my kids at some point. I am concerned that DD3 will be taking milk away from her baby sister but don't want to push DD3 away at a time that I know will be difficult for her. She is very attached to me and will not let me or DH out of her site.

It kind of sucks because when the baby is nursing, the toddler always wants to as well. BUT you don't have to worry about engorgement. I do think my supply came in faster and my body adjusted to make enough for both. The baby never went hungry. I think it was kind of a bonding time for them as well.
just seeing this, sorry i'm a bit late. do you still have questions?
my milk came in very fast with #2..by the time i was discharged from the hospital, i was already feeling engorged, and i was discharged about 30 hours after birth? during the time before my milk came in, my older daughter (20 months at the time), didn't nurse at all because she was distracted with grandparents, etc. when we got home as a family, she latched on, but by then, milk was in already. no issues.
