Talk to me more about your experience with yoga. Did you take a class? What did you like about it? Anything you didn't like?
I have been doing a Jillian Michael's yoga meltdown DVD (levels one and two) usually two times a week for several months now. I also have a quick ten minute butt/leg workout on my iphone. I have noticed a HUGE difference.

I have been doing yoga off and on for about 13 years or so I always prefer the classes. I have tried DVDs but I need the energy of other people to stick to it. Otherwise I'll just do 5 min and turn it off. I haven't been in a while b/c the only class I can fit in my schedule is 8am on Saturday which is really early! I love the feeling of serenity and calmness and peace that it gives me. I do it more for that than for the exercise aspect. But let me tell you my muscles felt it for 2 days after Saturday's class b/c it has been so long!
ETA: I have a hard time with balancing poses especially tree but I just do the very minimum beginner version. Sometimes I think the most important part of yoga is accepting where you are and not pushing yourself or comparing yourself to others in the class.

I'm just fascinated by how yoga seems to fundamentally change your body. My mom has been doing it for about three months now and she is in the best shape of her life. She was in a bikini this weekend and I was like "mom, you have a better figure than most women half your age". Her stomach is flat, arms are toned, legs and butt are in better shape. She had to borrow four pairs of my old jeans because she no longer fits into hers. It's crazy!
I like the peace and serenity that comes from classes. Unfortunately I don't get that from the JM DVD.

It's hard to really see the changes in my body b/c I am starting to think I have a case of body dysmorphic disorder, but the effect on my mood can't be beat!
Have you tried pilates also? I'm hooked and it's a great core workout!
I have a few Pilates DVD's that I should do. My gym doesn't offer a ton of classes so I do a lot on my own. Plus with my schedule with P I can't count on getting to the gym more than two days a week or so.
