SBR: Wayward Pines TV show season 2

Anyone watching Wayward Pines season 2? I tried the first episode last night, but it was so slow I couldn't get into it and turned it off halfway through. Is there another book to go along with the show? I didn't love season 1 just because the book was so much better, really don't understand why they had to change it so much.

I haven't read the books, but it's my understand they are a trilogy - Pines, Wayward, and The Last Town.

The first TV season was supposed to basically be a mini-series, which is probably why they changed it so much, but they always change books a ton when they translate them into movies/TV shows.

I read the first book last year. It was ok but I never felt like I needed to read on so I stopped. Never saw the show.

I blew through all three books. I loved them.

I don't think I realized there was more than one season of the show? Or maybe I did. Why do I feel like the one season that I watched covered the entire book series?

Either way, I wasn't overly impressed with the show. It was okay.
