Well my brother arrived last night, and I am very impressed! He doesn't have a smart phone, so he brought print-outs of google maps of my neighborhood and the city so he can tackle his job hunt on foot. He brought lots of copies of his resume and a suit. He was helpful around the house last night and seems very motivated right now. He is now on medication to help his depression and anxiety and it is making a BIG difference.
So 1 day in, I am impressed. I will provide updates later in the week if anyone is interested. Thanks for all of your thoughts yesterday.
Now the only other thing is I would like is for him to mend fences with my sister. He never called my sister or sent her anything or has even acknowledged the birth of her daughter (our niece) earlier this year. My sister is very hurt over this.
My brother thinks my sister is too critical of him, and thus, doesn't like to talk to her.
Glad to hear that he's motivated! Fingers crossed that he stays that way.
Sorry to hear that he's being a douche to your sister, but personally I'd just stay out of it. Hopefully he'll realize on his own that it's a silly thing to feud about.
I'm glad to hear things went well (from creepy lurker, sorry). My youngest brother has suffered on and off with depression, and I wish I could help him out more.
Don't push too hard on the sister relationship issue, sounds like the relationship was strained before, and pushing the issue will likely make your brother think you are "taking sides"... Not that I have ever experienced that.. hah
