I thought this post was going to be about dropping your baby, and I was all ready to say "don't worry, it happens to tons of people! My friend was so tired she dropped her newborn in hospital."
No clue about floating up, but maybe a change in limb position could make baby seem higher?
I have no idea. I never really noticed when either of my kids dropped. At 35 weeks, I'm guessing it's likely to change a bit between now & delivery...though not too much, as they run out of room to move around!
I also thought you were talking about physically dropping a baby!
Enjoy getting to breathe again! I don't think they usually go back up, but really don't think it's indicative of labor. My first kid never dropped but water broke at 36 weeks. Second dropped slowly over time starting at 33 weeks, but wasn't born until 37+5. Anecdotes! I'd still pack a bag. But that's the paranoid part of me who dealt with preterm labor.
I don't think so, but it's possible that the baby hasn't really dropped all the way. He may have been so high before that now he's lower, but still have room to drop further. I carried my second so low I wasn't sure there would be a big difference when he dropped, but there was.
Yeah, I agree he's not likely to float back up but it Lso doesn't mean labor is about to start. Gah, I wish mine woukd drop a bit. I CANT BREATHE! My first was never up this high.
35.5 weeks isn't too soon. This baby has been dropped since around 33/34 weeks. And while I appreciate the extra breathing room, he now loves to head butt my cervix.
My second baby dropped about 37 weeks (so much so that the OB commented on it), but wasn't born until almost 41 weeks. I don't know if they ever float back up, but I would (try!) not to worry that labor is imminent.
My DS dropped at 35/36 weeks. He never went back up; his head was in my pelvis. He wasn't born until 38+4 and I was induced because of hypertension so I'll never know how long he would've been there if I had gone into labor naturally.
