I did not realize they has suspects. I hiding in my room. All I know is that all of Dallas is closed since the investigation is still happening. They closed out all of the roads.

All of Dallas is not closed. Some streets in the downtown area are closed.
God dammit. Do you really want to argue with me.
I said most of downtown Dallas is closed off. Specifically where I work. Sorry if I did not state that clear enough for you.
You literally said "all of Dallas is closed." Maybe don't spout off things that aren't true when you don't even know what's going on since you're hiding in your room.
mrssandro , Take a deep breath and flip on the news.
Yes. I should do that. I think if I turned it on at this point I would just be blubbering mess. My husband is keeping me posted. I just did not listen to the latest.
Of course all of fucking Dallas is not closed, Dallas is huge. But the part of Dallas that is closed is like the heart of Dallas, many people go there for work and to businesses to shop and what not. This is a big deal. People were stuck in that area last night and now are locked out this morning. This is a dumb fight to have.

It's not fighting to clarify that only part of Dallas is closed and not the whole thing. THAT'S NOT EVEN THE IMPORTANT PART OF WHAT IS HAPPENING. So let's all just shut up about it.
I am angry. And sad. So much hate and violence. I wish it would all just stop.
I feel for the victims families. I had a friend who was a cop about 15 years ago. He would come into my work late at night and check up on me since I was the only one working. He'd have a cup of coffee and we would chat and he would tell me crazy stories about people he had arrested. One night he pulled someone over for a routine traffic stop. The man pulled a gun and shot him point blank in the head. Nothing is sadder than watching a funeral procession for a policeman or fireman. It doesn't matter if the man was black or white. It's the fact that he had a gun and used it for no reason.
I don't pray but my thoughts are with the victims families.
Are they not releasing information because suspects are at large?
At the press conf this morning they said they weren't releasing information about any suspect(s) because it is an ongoing criminal investigation. All they would say is that one suspect was killed by police with a bomb robot thing after negotiations/stand off (and they read some of the statements that suspect had made during that time).
eta they didn't say whether additional suspects were at large or in custody.
Are they not releasing information because suspects are at large?
Yes, David Brown said something to that effect this morning, that they don't want the people at large to know what all they know.Â
I feel like after they mistakenly released the picture of a guy who turned out to have nothing to do with it they decided to take a breath and not release anything until they're absolutely sure they know something.
This is awful. I feel like your country has been in a downward spiral since Sandy Hook and it's just gotten horribly worse.
. Philando Castile Shouldn't have been shot and there's little doubt in my mind it's because he was black.
The same way five cops in Dallas should not be dead. Because they were cops. No other reason than they chose a profession, which yes is known to be dangerous, but what happened last night was not an expected "danger" of the job.
One does not cancel out the other.
Both are horrible losses of life that just shouldn't have happened.
Edited to change Philando Castile's name as my phone auto corrected and I didn't catch it.
And to say, not that it matters, but each time my heart does break for your country. i didn't articulate well and I'm not going to try because you're right, not the time I am sorry. For everyone feeling heartbroken today.

We're all on edge right now - and I'm probably over-reacting - but I'm finding myself bristling a little at hearing a non-American tell me that my country is in a downward spiral.

And I'm irritated that you (randomcdn, not Toledo) called one of the dead the wrong name. It's disrespectful. Philando Castile. If you are going to say his name, give him the respect he deserves and get it correct.

I think it's kind of like a friend jumping in when you're bitching about your H. I can bitch about him all I want, but you don't get to do anything but be sympathetic.
This country is a downward spiral. The only thing that feels different to me is that I can now watch black people be murdered on my tv screen instead of out of my window. And yes, I can rattle off a list of murdered friends and relatives that will make your head spin. This is just a quick boil-over of a long-simmering pot. The all lives matter people are just impatiently waiting for someone to slap a lid on it so they can go back to their oblivious lives.
It actually bothers me less to see a Canadian miss this point than people I live and work with every day.
I wish I could have come up with these words on my own:
Austin Channing Brown
Regarding the #‎dallasshooting:
Even without all the details in, the news coming out of Dallas is frightening for police and protesters. This is another mass shooting, taking the lives of officers, wounding more, including civilians. These officers were protecting protesters who had gathered together to demand justice & practice unity. The rally was so successful that officers had been taking pictures with protesters and the department was live tweeting the event.
This is heartbreaking.
It is also frightening.
So very frightening.
None of us want officers to be hurt or killed. What we want is systemic justice so there is no need for protests or police protection. We want a just system so that all of us- protester and police officer- can be home with families instead of risking lives in the streets. This was an attack on the possibilities of our unity... I pray it doesn't work.

I agree. Even though we *are* on a downward spiral.
I'm going to get real irritated if folks start acting like no one should be calling out the good old USA for its racist shenanigans. Anyone with two eyes and half a brain can see that race relations are fucked up. Whether you consider it a downward spiral or just a glimpse behind the curtain to what has always been there is just a matter of semantics.

Thank you.
I'm devastated for the actions that are taking place South of me. No less devastated than if it were here. This Canadian cares and has her eyes wide open, even if I can't possibly know all the ins and outs of it all.
It's bullshit. "What's wrong with your country?" is a perfectly legitimate question in these instances. I have no interest in watching folks get in their irrelevant feelings so that this turns into a rah-rah America rally.
IF YOU'RE BLACK, AMERICA IS NOT A HAPPY PLACE. I don't know how many times I need to say this here.
capscapscaps, look! I did it! My caps lock key actually had dust on it, but now I can see the appeal.

Right? My first thought was not "how dare you?" but "shit goes way back before sandy hook..."

Yes, that was my first thought. I am not proud of our country right now, it's a mess.
