My hair is currently to my shoulders and the longest it has been in years. When it was shorter it was curly and now it seems like it is more of a wave - & not a particular pretty wave either. I have to work at it to be curly and work at it to be straight. Frustrating!
How often do you straighten your hair? Do you think it takes longer to make your hair straight or curly?
Do you have a lot of hair? Since you said its the longest its been in years, it could just be that you have so much hair that its weighing down and taking the curl out.
This is the case with my mom's hair. When its long and hasn't been cut properly, there's just so much that it gets weighed down and turns into more of a wave than the ringlet curls she usually has.
I have 2b wavy hair and I have a similar problem of taking just as much time to style curly and straight. I wash it everyday and typically wear it straight half the time
I have wavy hair. I just let it be wavy. On days I bother to do anything it takes more effort to straighten it. Styling for curly seems much more forgiving to me...if I miss a little piece here and there it just kinda blends, whereas if I straighten it I actually have to get everything or else it looks like poo.
Also if I've gotten a good cut getting my hair to curl is just a matter of putting in some product and then being careful how it dries. (like plopping) Straightening is a whole process involving heat and 5 kinds of product.

Curly is so much easier for me. I just wash it, run some product through, twist it until it dries into wavy curls and then separate it. I've tried diffusing it to get a tighter curl and I'm a complete failure at that.
When I straighten I have to put product, blow dry and straighten in pretty small sections. If I straighten I blow dry at night, do a quick pass with the straightener and touch it up the next morning. Then I go that day and at least two more with it straight (lots of times I'll put it up the last day). I get my "use" out of it if I straighten it - that's for sure!
I keep my hair decently long so it's a lot of work regardless of what I do, ha. But I'm also one of those people who has hair that can go either way - but I have to put effort it for it to be curly or straight. Mostly I do curly because it's less damaging and faster (and I live in a city with lots of rain = straight hair doesn't last long!). I've figured out methods of getting it to be curly in different ways with varying amounts of time and options that involve sticking it in a messy bun when I'm super lazy

this is me too. my hair is getting longer (about halfway between my shoulders and boobs) and I'm growing it out. it's 2B/2C wavy. equal amount of work for curly or straight. I wear it curly most days for health, not so much because of work. I don't get lots of rain though (unfortunate for my lawn, fortunate for my hair). it also depends on whether or not I'm work (I tend it wear it curly when working--I'm a nurse--since it is up all the time anyway).
During the summer I don't even bother straightening my hair. 99% of the time my hair is in a ponytail or bun in the summer. I hate having hair on my neck when I'm hot!
The rest of the year I only straighten it if I'm going out or something. I never straighten it for work because it ends up in a ponytail most of the time at work (I'm a nurse).
It's not curly but it's definitely wavy and tends to frizz, especially in the summer.
haha I'm totally the opposite since summer is nice and dry here

I don't straighten my hair often during the summer because of the humidity. It's much easier to wear my hair curly. Plus I can do curly without adding heat. During the winter, I straighten it a few times out of the week.

What the heck is 2b & 2c curls? Some type of measurement?? I need to know this...
Anyway, my hair is curly when short & it also loosens when it gets longer. It's like it's trying to reach the floor! Curly is so much easier. I just run some product through & walk through the door. I straighten my hair maybe 2-3x a year. Way too much work for my taste.
I prefer my hair straight because it just looks much more put together, IMO, but it takes way too long to make it look decent. If I don't just put my hair up, I wear t curly just because of the ease. I put product in my hair and let it air dry.
My hair is similar- it's not pretty left natural so I either curl or straighten it. I wash it at night and let it air dry. Then in the morning I will curl it with a curling iron or straighten it.
